Buying a slow cooker (which? & why?)

I bought a Breville one from the Coop online. Think it was £26. It's a Which? report best buy. I liked the look of the Crockpot but it didn't get a very good review with Which. They criticized the weight of it and the fact that the lid isn't clear so you have to take the lid off to check the food letting the heat out...?
It's arriving on Weds and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
I'm assuming there are some good slow cooker recipes on here?0 -
Hi all,
Looking for a SC that you can use the crock to brown stuff on the hob in, put it in the oven, the dishwasher and the fridge. Also to cook joints/chicken in. We are a family of 5. Any recomendations would be brilliant.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
The Crockpot brand of slow cookers can be used like that.0

To be honest I bought a slow cooker because of all the raves on here, but I much prefer the taste of food cooker slowly in a casserole dish in the oven the flavours impregnate more and you dont have stewed taste and runny dishes that require thickning, although I did find it ok for bolanese. I get my new Everhot soon, so the slow cooker (i actually have two) will be redundant but in true OS fashion, I am swapping one for a rug!Pawpurrs x0

Hi there,
I'm not sure if this is in the right place but anyhoo...
I'm new to the world of slow cooking and I'm thinking of investing in one to slash our shopping budget PLUS become more organised and creative in the kitchen (tall order? I hope not!).
I don't really want to spend more than £30. We're a family of 4 so it needs to be big enough and I'm a little confused by size.
Any recommendations?

I love mineIt's MR one, it's too big for the 2 of us but it does mean I can make extra & freeze the left overs.

catalogue no. is 422/8826
or a Rachel Allen 6.5l for £13.990
