Buying a slow cooker (which? & why?)

I used to have a small Swan one and it only ever stuck once, but that was in my experimental days LOL
When that broke 3yrs ago, I decided to get a big one and went for the MR. The only reason I chose the big one, was because I wanted to:-
a) be able to feed *all* of my family when they turn up at once and
b) when it's just us reduced numbers, make the same large quantity but freeze half.
I haven't made anything in small quantities, so I can't comment on that. If not for the above reasons, I would have only bought a smaller version, like my original one. So, basically, give it some thought as to how much usage you will get from having a large one vs a small one.

I have the 6.5l one and I think I'm going to have to invest in a smaller one, I'm still finding it very hard to fill it to the halfway point which is the minimum recommended level, I like to use my SC for bolognese sauce and curries and can't do those at the moment.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

? Moggins !!!! Wash your mouth out with gloop!!!!
You could do more on purpose to fill the freezer up!
Or feed it to the OH every day for a week...Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. maryb - maybe it was just a fault with your Tower one. I have a Tower one which has never caught, as well as a 6.5L MR one. Some have found their MR one has caught, but I've not had any problems with any of mine, even when they've not much in them.
Moggins, you can never have too many slow cookers - I've only the 3 after all0 -
If I was to fill the thing with Bolognese sauce they would be eating it every day for a fortnightOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

I use the Morphy Richards 6.5L one. I knew of someone who had a Rival crockpot (like the original ones) and it was a relic and it was used everyday for years and years, until it final gave up the ghost, the feet had started to melt. So, Luis I wouldn't worry about coming home to a smouldering ruin after leaving it on all day. I think the one that went kaput was like 25 year old, good service for sure.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. I'll second that, Iona Penny.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0
