Just wondered if anyone used a rival 3.5L chrome slow cooker and what you thought of it ?
  • Have just bought the rosemary conolly slow cooker, it's 3.5l and has a trivet in bottom. I have a whole chicken in it at the mo and everything seems to be cooking ok. (through the see through lid).

Sometimes a bit of steam comes out - it that normal?

It is on the high setting and i'm going to test it when it's been on for 5 hrs - will that be enough cooking time for a medium sized chicken?

yep it's normal and 5 hours should just about do it although I would test it first.

I bought one of these from Costco about three years ago. Eighteen months later I got a letter saying they were being recalled. So I returned mine and bout the RH oval one from Robert Dyas. I didn't have any problems with the Rival one though but apparently there was a fault with the mains switch.

Anyone seen a 3.5 litre slow cooker cheaper than £16.66 (Argos)? can be white or stainless steel.

After reading all the great benefits of a slow cooker, i've just bought the Russell Hobbs 6.5l one from amazon. its oval, but its got two separate compartments...has anyone else got this one?
    Hi
I bought this a few weeks ago from Amazon. It will work just the same if you use only one pot to cook in. The samller pot is about half the size of the main on and would be good for doing seperate vegetables or puddings (im not a pudding person). You get some recipes in the instruction book.
I manily use it because I am a vegetarian and my Oh eats meat. So i cook the meat dishes in the bigger pot and find it very good for this. However the only potential probelm is the two pots have the one covering lid and they are not sealed seperate from each other. I have found it ok and the smells of the meat have not affected my veg dish, but not sure what would happen with cooking puddings and a strong smelling main course.
I have had no problems with it and find it works well, although it is my first slow cooker. It is easy to use but is a bit heavy ! But for the money it is very solid and worth the money IMHO even if you only use it occassionally.
    Good luck with yours.
  • After reading all the brilliant threads on here, i've done it, i've got myself a slow cooker. I sent hubby out to get the 3.5 Morphy richards but in his nfinite wisdom he's come back with the 4.5 Anthony worrell thonmpson one. I just wanted to know if any of u guys have got this one, Should i take it back and swop it for the morphy richards one????
so many decisions to make, i think my heads going to explode.
i cant wait to try using one, i'm sick to death of coming home after a hard days work, trying to decide to what to cook up quickly and ending up down the take away coz i havent got the time to sort things out!

    PLEASE HELP!!!
