My slow cooker has packed up so looking at getting a new one. Is there any brands, types that are better than the others?
I have had a quick look on the web and notice there are ones with several different heat settings, some digital displays etc.
I think I will get a large one so I can cook joints etc but any advise would be welcome.

My slow cooker is a Tesco's own jobbie, cost me about a tenner 4 years ago and is still going strong.0

Yeah I had a breville one that cost me about £15 from argos, was perfect, before that I had the slowcooks one and stupidly left it in an old flat!
I'm actually watching a couple on ebay at the moment too.0 -
I also need a new slow cooker the lid has a crack on the rim of mine. I am hoping for a bargain when the weather warms up, i like to use mine for pasta sauces, saves having the gas ring on.Grocery Challenge 24th Feb-28 Dec 2012 £2000/£1404

I'd say the bigger the better. I bought the cheapest version of Argos' range and found I couldn't even get a chicken in there.
Thank goodness it's broken because it really wasn't for families. I too am on the lookout for a new slow cooker. I will say though that the cheap version worked just fine so I won't be splashing the cash... I just need something bigger0 -
Thanks for the advise everyone - I will keep my open for a large cheap one.Sealed Pot Challenge #6010

Mine is a 'cordon-bleur' make (if that even still exists??)
I have had it at least 15yrs and it is still going strong.
At the time I think it was fairly top-of-the-range as has various settings, but not sure any appliance these days is built to last that long.
Happy hunting.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I got the larger Cookworks one from Argos about 5yrs ago and it's fine. Only complaint is the lid doesn't fit as good as i thought but so long as you make sure it's centered, can't complain for about £10Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
