uninstall IE7 reinstall IE6

You were all so helpful a while ago when I had probs that I thought I'd pester you again! I want to uninstall IE7 which I can't stand, and reinstall IE6 which I can. I tried oldversion.com but unbelievably nothing happened, not a thing. MS tells me to uninstall 7 first...if I do, will I not be able to get into my homepage, or any other come to that, therefore just have a blank screen or at the most just a word processor? Or doesn't it work like that? I'm not prepared to try it before getting some sound advice from you good guys ;)

You may not be able to stand IE7, but bear in mind IE6 would be significantly less secure.

No because you're left with IE6. It doesn't mean you have no browser, uninstalling IE7 automatically reverts it to IE6.

Not sure how anyone can survive without tabs though.

There is a reason MS have classified it as a critical update.

100% agree. Tabbed browsing is the way to go.

I use Firefox and have the add-on 'swift tabs' for using a keyboard shortcut for switching between tabs.

I don't understand why anybody uses IE anymore, it's a dreadful, old, and slow piece of software.

Try firefox: http://www.getfirefox.com or opera http://www.opera.com instead.

Both have had tabbed browsing for about 9 years!

Not really. Everyone has their own opinion. I actually switched from firefox (which I'd been using since beta) to IE7 as my default. I find it no slower than FF or Opera.

Indeed - and of course as time progresses IE6 will become less and less secure in comparison with IE7 (I assume MS are not continuing to provide IE6 updates?).

I'm pretty sure you're correct on that, that MS no longer rolls out updates for IE6. And IE6 was quite inherently insecure anyway.

I use both Firfox and IE6.

Firefox is set to use SUN java while IE is set to use MS virtual machine.

So if I get a problem with a site I can test it by switching browsers.
