www.justtyres.co.uk price match in branch, against other retailers, all inclusive quotes as well!

Plus a downloadable voucher on the site for more savings, discount if you order on line - but all fitted in branch, not deliver to you, then mess abour finding a fitter!

& usually several brands of different sizes listed on the site.

Also ATS had a buy one get one free offer on Riken (which is made by Michelin in the same factory as other European Michelins.

One trick to try when you are getting a price for BOGOF on tyres is to ask for a breakdown of the amount (before agreeing to buy them) National tyres might do what ATS does, which is to charge
    1 x tyre
    2 x fitting
    2 x valves
    2 x balancing

Find out exactly how much each of these is costing you and opt not to have the valves replaced, save your self £6 - £10. I think it unlikely that you would have any problems with your old valves.

From a post on these forums from a while ago, I wonder if the tyre places sometimes advertise good branded tyres cheap, then try get you to buy cheap crap instead. Sort of like a bait and switch scam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bait_and_switch

Try all the websites and as mentioned previously in this forum, don't forget to give the dealers for your car a buzz as they might be cheaper than you expect.
  • Obviously, if funds are really tight, then you may have to go for the cheapest Albanian cart tyres available.

However, my personal view is that, with things like tyres, brakes and steering, which don't tend to give you second chances, you should go for the best quality - I've kept with the OE Continental EcoContacts - but shop around for the best available price. Don't dismiss the "usual suspects" (National and even KwikFit) too quickly, either. As mentioned above, they do have some good special offers on from time to time. Also, if you can safely leave things to the end of the month, the branch manager may be getting desperate to meet his monthly sales targets.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
