You will need, blank CDR, USB flash drive, CD writing sotware (Nero, Roxio etc) and access to the internet.
    • Download a copy of the latest Puppy Linux ISO image. Make sure you know where you save the ISO file on your computer.
    http://www.puppylinux.com/download/downpage.htm

    http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/puppy-3.01-seamonkey.iso
    • Use your CD writing software to Brun the ISO image to a blank CDR
    • Write Puppy Linux 3.0.1 on the CD
    • Put the written CD into your laptop and let the laptop boot up.
    • Where it says "boot:" press ENTER.
    • Wait for the system to load into memory
    • Choose "Xorg" to start the Video
    • Choose your screen size, I have 1280x800, safe ones will be 1024x768 or 800x600
    • Wait for the windows to load
    • Insert your USB key
    • Click on the "Drives" icon (you may need only to click once)
    • Click on you hard drive (there may be more than one) to mount the drive and make it accessible.
    • Click on the USB drive to mount this
    • Click on the folder icons to open the folders. left of the drive after you mount it
    • You can browse your disks now and find the file you want.
    • Drag the file from the hard disk to the USB key.
    • Close the windows
    • Click on the green dive icons to "unmount" the drives
    • Menu, Shutdown, Power Off.

Due to the fact that computers only realy understand two fundamental commands on and off (or binary), which is pretty basic realy (pardon the pun), And the fact that an operating system is primarily based on these two commands, the it goes without saying that its very easy to crack if you know what you are doing and you know where to look.

There are in fact programs out there that will actualy remove or give you the option to replace passwords. Trouble is some of the sources of these files come from people who know way to much about programming, so you take a chance when using them.

If you have data that you need to protect its good practice to either back it up to a flsh drive or keep a blank rewritable in the DVD/CD drive. I always keep my flash drive in my pocket no matter where I am (apart from when Im in the bath) so if theres anything I need to save I can back it up immediately...

A simple Google search will find the program you are looking for to restore your password, Dont pay for it, its free if you look in the right place.

And if your unsure of the sorce of the file, as soon as you are back into your system, back up your important files then do a factory reset, this should see you safe.....:D

  • wonder if she managed to sort it?

Why mess about? I hate people like this. An employee once did it to the works PC - and then disappeared.

Call the Police........ or "Big Dave", to have a chat with him.

He'll learn something from the experience.

Nope. It now comes up with two user names - administrator and mine....

And still asking for passwords on both.

u should be able to log on to the administrator account - just leave the password field blank - as u didnt create a password when u logged on as administrator did u?

when u have logged on just modify/delete the old account.
  • and the home.eunrt one, I don't actually understand his website.:o

You need to click on the Bootdisk tab at the top :D

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

  • ummmm why can't you just ask X-OH for the password? Tell him to grow up, you've got very important work on there that you need to access ASAP and if he doesn't come round and sort it out you'll go round and key his car!
Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam
  • Ophcrack may not work and ill tell you why, because the LCD grpahic drivers on the lappy.

Tryed Ophcrack on laptops and had issues but none whatsoever with Desktop Systems.

If Ophcrack doesnt work on the lappy, then reset the password using ERD Commander 2005-7 doesnt matter which version, but takes about 5 mins.

Free on Google if you search it.
