No fix - it's an XP bug but lot's of workarounds. Problem seems to stem from the explorer shell loading systray too quickly during boot before the apps that load the icons have started.
All the workarounds seem to just delay the loading of the systray somehow. These include:
Manual username/password logon.
Using bootvis optimization.
Using a 3rd start-up manager to ensure desktop.ini loads for current user only.
Disabling uPnP.
Several registry tweaks along the same lines.Perhaps it's an easter egg to keep all the techies happy
Anyway, main thing is you've made 2 more MSE'ers very happy. :beer:
