I find yourreply offensive. My brother in law is disabled so surely he qualifies for a bulk head seat. If BA were not going to allocate the seat asked for then my sister should have beentold this and she could have taken her chances and bookedin online. Anybody would think my sister was commiting a crime by asking foran upgrade when she caled yesterday. Surely if someone has a disability then the least BA can do is tell the truth in that everyone else will be allowedto book in but you will not be able to as you have a special need. If that is not discrimination I dont not what is.!! I also did not say whether or not my sister is a frequent flyer as it seems to be implied on herethat only these people are " ENTITLED" to an upgrade. Whenever my sister and husband have travellein Europe with Ryan Air and Easy Jet they have always had exemplary treatment and have never beem so badly treated. Anyway have decided I will still read MSE but I will no longer post any queries as I am sick of the nasty bullies on here. Perhaps you should all look up stroke on the internet and seeif you would like the illness yourselves. BA have not kept their word re the seats ans that is a fact.
I'm sorry to see someone offended by people's comments on the forum. I am disabled myself, and have had a number of problems (some serious) with the airlines. Sometimes it is discrimination, sometimes it is just c##p customer service which would apply to anyone - although a disabled person will suffer more as a result.
Disability does not automatically entitle us to an upgrade - indeed, I've been told I cannot be given an upgrade because of my disability because that would be discrimination! We sometimes get such treatment, but it's not something he airline has to do.
I've found the best way to get good treatment is to try to fly at unpopular times, when the plane is unlikely to be full, and the airport likely to be quieter. This way there is more chance of getting a suitable seat and people having the time to help. It may not be ideal, but it gives the staff a chance to help us. We need to meet them halfway.0 -
I have just spent about 1 hour reading this thread. It is hilarious. :rotfl: :eek:0

After reading this thread one thing springs to mind(which HAS been mentioned)
Why the hell is someone who is so disabled that he is at risk of DVT even contemplating a long flight like this? Although going by the OPs first post it would probably be the airlines fault if the BIL developed DVT!
This post sounds like someone with a balanced view.......ie a chip on both shoulders.
Why is it when someone has a problem they immediately look on it as discrimination. It is too easy to pull this card when throwing toys out of the pram. Why does the OP immediately think discrimination instead of human or CS !!!!-up? Probably because it sounds like the next post will be about............COMPENSATION! (Sorry for shouting)
Sorry, but if your BIL was so concerned about seating then he should have paid a bit more and then the problem would not have arisen. Although it seems to be the OP that has a chip on possibly both shoulders.
And by the way, before the OP or anyone else comes on here with attitude, my wife is disabled and we make sure we pay if we are definite we need something and don't want to leave it to chance.
Blimey, I wouldn't want to be sitting next to the OP on a long flight!0
