and puffing about how important the bulkhead seat was, there was then a seat swap to get a working video screen?
I did not say that at all. Surely you cant take issue with the fact that he swapped seats with my sister ( the seats were next to each other!!) in order to watch the tv. They never heard anything from BA abnout their complaint but no surprise there!!!
To change the subject slightly he has just got his driving licence back after being disqualified 10 years ago for a drink driving offence and 1 year after applying he was assesed as fit to drive with his disability and has just got a specially adapted car and is really happy. However he has to pay £22.00 to have the Drink Driving removed from his licence even though it was 10 years ago and he only lost it for 2 years.
He is a wonderful man and I have just seperated from my husband and he came the other day and gave me £500 ( from a premium bind win of £5000) so that I would have an emergency fund to fall back on. He also came and rewired all my tv and sattelite systems even though he can only use one hand!! People who criticise disabled people should not be so selfish as a stroke can happen to anyone.

rose i'm just glad your brother in law is now so active compared to the really poor state he was in when he took these flights a few weeks ago.
it just shows what can be achieved .
to go from not being able to cut up your food to being able to rewire a satellite system and drive an adapted car is a credit to him and the health service.

He has not had a massive recovery. He is just very tenacious and tries very hard to so things even if it is difficult for him. He did not actually rewire my tv just moved my leads around for me. He likes a challenge and it keeps his brain alert. Regarding the flight it is just in a different environment than home he would maybe struggle with mobility and would get stressed if there was a problem. These are all symptoms of his stroke. I wish now I had never posted the original query because I cannot beleive how uncaring people are. Also re a post a few back is there any need to call me a troll. Perhaps the people critisicing me should read my other thread about my crap life. I enjoy posting on here and chatting to others but some people on here are not nice.

Now that is not fair. Sorry if you've got a 'crap life' but that is nothing to do with this thread. We all have difficulties in life, I have no idea what yours are and you have no idea about mine, but most of us don't try to put people on a guilt trip when they disagree with us.

The fact is, everybody gets stressed on long haul flights, but some more so than others. By your reasoning, surely everybody with anxiety and other mental health problems should get an upgrade also?

We're going to end up with the whole plane being first class soon! :p

unfortunately i can only go on what you post . if things haven't changed with your BiL's health you possibly need to re-read your original posts and the recent one i quoted and think to yourself how they may be perceived by an onlooker

Point taken. Now I will let this one rest. It is obvious BA wont reply to my sisters complaint and it is just a lesson learned. Either pay for an upgrade or be happy with your seat!

In my opinion. British Airways has done nothing wrong. I strongly believe the Disabled people get too much for free. You are complaining that he was discriminated against, when in fact you were requesting positive discrimination (which in my opinion is equally as bad!)
By not giving him a better seat they were not discriminating against him they were simply not discriminating for him. There is nothing bad about that.
I'm about to fly long distance with my wife and 1 year old baby, now it would be really nice if the airline give us an extra seat for the baby. But it is not discrimination against families if they don't we haven't paid for it and don't deserve it. It is just very nice when airlines go the extra mile. In practice the airline have no obligation to allow us to sit together at all. It seems to me that the airline did everything in their power to help you BIL out and in this case they were unable to. Why should someone with a wheel chair get more leg room than anyone else anyway? Perhaps being tall should count as a disability and we should give tall people extra leg room, or being obese and we should give them double seats. I find your original post offensive.
