Am at the Millenium Broadway, so any recommendations of where to eat and drink around Times Square would be v welcome (but then how do I know you're not going to be watching me?!!! ) ...
Have found a cute looking Italian* behind the hotel, so might nip there if everywhere else is v busy (I don't do busy)! x
* Restaurant, not man ... though if there are any nice men in the vicinity, I would be happy to entertain (American men just don't seem impressed with the boobies!)?
Gone ... or have I?0 -
as a yorkshire man, i'm impressed with boobies..
anyway... ok... 8th ave, between 45th and 46th, walking uptown, on the left hand side of the road, is Kevin St James...
irish pub, good food, great portions, reasonable price... and some good beer....
across the road, you have McHales, probably the best burger in the whole of NYC... man.. they are HUGE.... probably a bit pricer, but worth a visit...
Umm.. near times square, on W43rd street, between 6th ave and broadway... you have the Heartland Brewery, Chophouse...
there are other Heartland Breweries, but i think the Chophouse has the best food...
https://www.opentable.com to make restaurant reservations....
M
P.S.. you know i'm not watching because i'm stuck in the UK.. and not in NYC..... dammit!0 -
Heartland Brewery it is! Might try the Irish pub tomorrow night (I'm not homesick really!), and I'll possibly avoid McHales because I don't do meat (no comments now boys!) ...
Have just looked in the mirror and realised I look shocking ... nevermind, am never going to see them again! xGone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks to those who responded
After posting I ruminated and cogitated and then decided to look into an upgrade as I didn't want our holiday ruined from the outset by an uncomfortable journey next to an open window
We get DLA which is "to help financially toward the additional costs of disability" so I felt I could justify the additional £1200 cost despite my natural northern disinclination toward the "luxuries" in life
Logged on the BA site and thought while there I'd check out just where a bulkhead is - which is where this thread started if anyone remembers...
Well blow me (I'm a lass BTW so that is said in all innocence) I found that as we're travelling with infants we can book our seats now and don't have to wait until the 24 hour pre flight check in
What's more, having located the bulkhead I found that the seats have cots in front so we can park the babes and be able to give the boy hugs, cuddles and attention throughout the flight without needing an upgrade.
I booked 3 bulkhead seats. I suppose I'll have to contact PMCU and explain myself before they put us back by the window - surely an O2 pipe can dangle anywhere - not just by the window
So big fat thanks  to those who posted in response to mine and pointed me in the direction of the bulkhead - you've saved me £1200 :T :T
To those who commented I was a bit cheerful considering my circumstances and were they real? - weeping, wailing and gnashing me teeth isn't going to help at this stage, there will be plenty of time for that later.
In the meantime I am just grateful thankful and joyous that I have my boy here and now, and every morning when I go in his room and find him awake. It doesn't take much to make a 5 year old happy, a Fruit Shoot, chocolate mini roll and CBBC.
I'm a long way from where I thought I'd be (and the dox said I'd be) 5 years ago.
Anyway, getting right back to the original point of this thread, many thanks to Rose for posting her woes (it rhymes!!) at least some good has come out your troubles - and many thanks to all who've posted - it's been very interesting (sometimes)
I did try to hit some of the thanks buttons - hope they worked
BTW Donny Osmond Fan - fancy remembering me after all these years - I was always more of a Merrill girl myself

I remember Hubby and I going on holiday a few years back and finding ourself in the check-out queue with a very large number of very elderly folk, many of whom had walking sticks etc. There was a furious squabble going on at check in about "the good" seats and why none of the old folk were getting them. The check in staff person finally cracked at a particularly shrill demand as to who exactly were they going to allow to sit there...she leapt to her feet and pointed down the queue at my big strong hubby standing there in full cycling gear (we had our bikes in the hold) and shouted "Him! Because he's the only one here that could open that emergency door so you could escape!"
I'll tell you, it was a miserable flight. We may have had the best seats but the looks we got would have slain angels......Val.0 -

it just shows what can be achieved .
to go from not being able to cut up your food to being able to rewire a satellite system and drive an adapted car is a credit to him and the health service.
Very good spot :T0 -
On the subject of Exit Row seats, how about we have a "Best Economy Seat" Competition.

And I am going to nominate 65A or 65L on an Air France 747-400s and I'll explain why, relative to the other available seats, they are, IMHO, the "Best Economy Seat" I know of.
1) Row 65 is an Exit Row with approx eight feet of legroom.
2) People tend to congregate at the back of the cabin, not in the exit row area.
3) There is no toilet nearby.
4) There is no galley nearby.
5) The row is in the quite converted upper deck in a 10 row 3X3 cabin, unlike the economy seats downstairs that are in a noisier cabin and a 3X4X3 combination .
6) The upper deck has individual TVs and radio, whereas the lower deck does not.
7) All "A" and "L" seats have a handy ledge come storage box next to them.

Surely the best seat in economy is the toilet seat

Do they really have smoke detectors in there or is it just to put you off lighting up - a bit like the mythical dye in a swimming pool which shows up who's pee'd
