The problem is most of these companies are in Spain or somewhere similar and therefore not registered with
Otelo which means they can not do much.
You have to be very clear and precise on who you're asking to do what.
ICSTIS regulate premium numbers, you can complain to them all you like but they have no power actually to do anything except take away a company's license to operate a premium number in the future. Which is no consolation if BT is hammering you to pay your huge bill you already ran up.
ICSTIS will probably suggest that you sue the premium rate company, which as you correctly point out is no use if they are based in the Outer Alligator Islands.
But Otelo as an arbitration service *do* have power to instruct BT to reduce your bill. There are other similar organisations but Otelo is the only one whose name I can remember. That's my understanding anyway, never needed to try their services personally.I ♥ MSE0 -
How do you get BT to block the access to premium rate numbers? One of my work colleagues has been stung for a £1000 bill. I'd rather not have the same thing happen to me!Make £2025 in 2025

That is basically correct, but nothing is foolproof
If you have broadband, the best thing to do is unplug the dial-up modem from the phone line. You just plug it in as and when you need to send/receive faxes or dial up.0 -
I have been informed by telcos and ISP`s that whilst rare it is possible for these dialers to operate,
Slinky,if you use B.T. for your calls (CPS) phone them on 150 and ask them to block 090 nombers,if using a different CPS then phone them and ask them to block these numbers,OneTel will not do this,TalkTalk will, not sure about others.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Nice to hear you're on broadband Derrick. Fast isn't it. All the better to surf this web site. And I'm amazed that you got a refund.
Well done!

Why not get an auto dialer and program it to stop 09 numbers. Have a look at:

As I have now gone on Broadband and changed my CPS to TalkTalk, who have blocked 09 numbers, I personally cannot find the justification to pay out the purchase price of any of these things.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
