Tesco Mobile Top-Up

It might be cheaper just to buy a new SIM from TescoDirect. £11 of airtime costs £5, or £21 costs £10, both with free delivery.
Once you have the new SIM, you can ping-a-pound until the money has all been transferred over to your usual SIM.
When ordering anything from TescoDirect, I always add on a £5 SIM with free delivery instead of paying delivery charges. Then I ping the £11 of airtime over.0 -
I hadn't realised you could transfer a new sim card value to an exsisting tesco mobile number so that's for that info VeryTrying, but I just wondered what was "ping a pound"-sorry if I am being thick.0

I was wondering what ping a pound was too. However I have just found out. Sign into My Tesco Mobile with your phone number here. You are then sent a pin on your phone. Enter that.
Then you will get a page with lots of options including registering your mobile with a clubcard to get points etc.
One of the options is to ping a pound.
Ping me a pound allows you to send £1 of airtime credit from your balance to another Tesco Mobile phone which has run out of credit and has no balance.
So for example if your child runs out of credit, they can use the ping me a pound service to request £1 from your calltime credit to be added to their mobile.- For someone to request a pound you must have registered their number for the service.
- You can register up to 10 mobile numbers to receive the credit - the numbers must be Tesco Mobile and they can’t be registered for the service with anyone else.
- Each of your registered numbers can request £1 a day as long as you have the available credit

I wish O2 would do this  It is exactly what i wanted to do the other day. Hubby had £9+ on his mobile but needed £10 for his 'Bolt On' which was due to be taken off, so he had to top up by a whole £10 (minumum top up).
I've got over £12 on mine which i rarely use and would have been ideal if i could have sent him a pound or two :rolleyes:Errrr...come back later0 -
You can only ping £1 a day so would take a long time.0

Yeah but he only needed £1 to take him over the £10 that he needed. Then i could have sent him another couple of pounds after so he had a bit of spare credit.
As Tesco run off O2 anyway does anyone think this might be an option in the future? Its a very good idea IMHO.
Sorry if i'm hijacking the threadErrrr...come back later0 -
I usually topup when the deal of the day gives you a free mobile phone with a top up card purchase.0

Just had a text off tesco mobile:
20% free airtime when you top up £20 in one go before 29th Feb.
Call 2710 for more info & T&Cs. All airtime wil be added 5th March.
So you get £24 for £20. Don't forget to top-up online or in store for 80 clubcard points.
I got a very similar text message, but it was 20% if you top up by £50, so I ignored it (too much).0 -
To ping a pound, does the sim with the money on it have to be in a phone which is switch on, or can you just leave it in a draw once youve registered0
