Insurance Advice Please

Having had an accident my insurance are due to payout for it but have requested to have access to my dvla records to see my convictions.

Me being stupid thinking that they cleared after 3 years not 4 as I have just realised said that I only had one but in fact I have two one being an SP30 from April 2004 that I have not told them about.

Will this stop them paying out my claim?

Could I delay them and wait until April when i can get it removed from licence?

Or do i just have to bite the bullet?

Bite the bullet and keep your fingers crossed.

Why insurance companies insit on different terms to the DVLA is beyond me.

I suppose they could decide not to pay out for failure to disclose.

I almost made exactly the same mistake a couple of years ago, I said I had no convictions but as I was renewing by phone DLine corrected me as I had an sp30 almost 4 year spent. Its obvious they do have access and should have pointed it out to you at that time surely, regardless of how you renewed.

Or possibly have recently changed insurers? either way you would have expected to have had it pointed out to you, if only to bump up the premium.

Mind you I have little faith in the database system, I got the fright of my life when I was flashed and pulled over out of the fast lane of the MI by the police. I couldnt believe they had done that, I could have panicked and caused a major incident, all because the database threw my car up as uninsured. I can assure you it dam well was.

It was quite a laugh in the end but not untill we'd had a session of good cop bad cop. They called DLine but the operator wouldn't talk to them for security reasons:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I was sat in the back of the patrol car very angry by this time, but p*****g myself at the situation. Eventuall they had to pass me the phone so I could give them the right to check my details. What a change of attitude when they accepted I was insured.

I reported this to Notts police and recieved a written apology.

My card is now probably marked:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
    Sorry for the digression.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Number 1, it isn't called the fast lane. Number 2, if you panic at the sight of blue lights behind you, maybe you should hand your driving licence in.

They could refuse to pay out, but it's unlikely. What they are likely to do is to re-calculate the policy price including the extra points and charge you the difference between what they should have charged and what you paid.

Waiting till April won't help. Most insurers ask the question "any motoring convictions in the last 5 years" so even if it's off your licence, you're still going to have to declare it until April 2009.

Chances are they already know about it. Fess up, pay the additional premium (they can go back for as long as you've had the policy with them) and don't 'forget' it next time!

Number 1, I dam well know what its called but most people don't, so I was talking to the masses not to the odd pedant.

Number 2, I didnt panic, read again I said I could have, meaning imagine a little old lady probably would have. I did think later what the consequences of having slammed the anchors on in the outside lane would have been, yeah?

I watched that police car for 3 or more miles. Moving from the inside to the fast, no sorry, outside lane, and back again. All the traffic, as usual had slowed to around 65mph and wouldnt pass, so I overtook as is my right.
Why do law abiding folks cringe when they see a copper???

    :naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty:

The poster was not being the " odd pedant " he/she was being correct, I am one of the " masses " but I know that it is an overtaking lane, not a " fast lane ".

How do you know that " most people don't know what it is called "?

    Sounds somewhat arrogant to me.

Did my referring to the outside lane as the fast lane deserve being told I should not be driving? I don't think so, there are ways of correcting peoples minor indiscretions without insulting them.......

Because ironic as it may seem I am acutely aware that folks on here kick up every time the FAST lane is mentioned, ok, my mistake, but 4fks sake,
