Try using your Network adapter Client utility to connect to the wireless network instead of using Windows. Just set up as you did your windows connection.
You should be given the option to dissable Windows to configure your network..

It's normally a utility that's provided on the installation and drivers CD that comes with the wireless adapter - it certainly was with my US Robotics adapters.

If you don't have the CD, you can probably download the utility from the adapter manufacturer's website.

It should,,, with a Dell machine, be already preinstalled on your system. (Thats if you have a system repair disk as opposed to a full Windows OS disk).. Unless you added the wireless adapter yourself.

Just look in your system tray or on your start menu to see if there is a Client utility present...

Ok thanks Tom I have found the WLAN card utility (it was pre-installed), if I try and add a network connection it says turn the wireless radio on. When I enable the radio it says WLAN card is still disabled and either slide switch or press Fn F2 - I don't have switch and Fn F2 doesn't do anything.

    Could the card be knackered?
  • Does a light come on?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

You can do a quick check to see if your WiFi card is working.
Click Start/ Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and check to see if your adapter is present, Then right click on it and click property's to see if its enabled and working properly.
If all is as it should check your PC documentation find out how to enable the adapter.
