Grocery shopping online Arrrrrrrrrgh!!!

I use Sainsbury's and I love them, they are usually about 5-10minutes outside their alloted time, so I get £10 off my next shop!!
I also mainly use them for buying heavy items, ie tins, or washing powder or dishwasher tablets etc. or for things like toilet paper. This way I get my money off, and I still get to go and choose all my own fruit and veg.
Wasn't happy when they substituted whiskas for paws (Sainsburys own!!) That all got sent back!!!
Good luck0 -
Used Tesco's five times now. They tend to turn up early - 10-15 minutes before the time slot allocated which has meant that I've not been there to see what they've subbed though the alterations have been fairly minor. They do seem to be monitoring stock levels as I've had a couple of notifications saying certain items are out of stock at my local store as I've added them to the basket. I've had no problems with short-dated stuff.
My only real complaint stems to my last order containing 10 3 litre bottles of Cider (Party supplies - really!) which they sent as 2 litre. They were special offer 2 for £4 instead of £3.48 each. They refunded 71p a bottle which was supposedly the price difference between the 2 and 3 litre, meaning each bottle cost just £1.29 (£2.49 in the local offy). The complaint isn't over the refund, but the fact that it took six days to get an answer from their email service - by which time the goods were long gone! - though the local store "home delivery manager" did ring and leave a message and apologies rather than an email.
I've just submitted an order for another 12, hopefully they'll get it right!0 -
Ocado is the best - it's waitrose's other arm. If you can't get Ocado then you probably have a waitrose online in your area. If you do a search you can find £15 off the first shop vouchers for Ocado. It is expensive though. I've used Tesco's and Sainsbury's, I prefer sainsbury's when they substitute unlike Tesco's they put all the stuff in a blue carrier bag so you know it has been changed unlike tesco's who shoved it all in with the shopping. I haven't used tesco's since they did that on my first attempt.0

if you don't want goods substituted you can add a note to this effect.
Or if you want to choose a second alternative if out of stock, then you can do that in the notes too.0 -

I've been using Tesco for quite a few months now, and think they're excellent. The driver is often early, but will always call to check if it is OK first. If I say no they come at the original time but usually I'm happy for them to come early anyway.
Had the odd substituation but not been a problem. Fresh fruit and veg is always really well picked so no problems there, and use by dates are usually really good (only had problems with this twice, and when I emailed they refunded me).
Would certainly recommend :-)0 -
I have to agree with boots_babe, the service is excellent. If there is a problem a quick phone call to customer services and the missing item is refunded to my account and an email confirming action completed immediately.
The drivers are good and friendly, what more can you ask for.
The bonus for me is that you can see what you are going to spend prior to check out which, if on a budget is also good.
Oh and it saves queing at the checkout worth the delivery cost in my book!!0 -
Since the birth of my second child I've been using Tesco.com for my groceries every week, only missing out the odd week.
I think they are great, and if you used to shop at Tesco's and have their clubcard, everything you have brought in the past just comes up on screen as your favourites.
When I was new to the home deliveries, i used to get some substitutions, and these are place in a reversed bag, so you can send them back with the driver if you dont want them. Everytime, I buy things that are on special like BOGOF or 2 of £3, i usually check the notes to say 'dont substitute'
Freshness of goods, there was only one occassion that I had some mushrooms delivered and it was the date on the mushrooms.
They have missed some things out, so i just ring them up straight away and they just refund my account straight away.
Delivery times, I usually get my groceries delivered on Tues or Weds morning, as these days are the cheapest for deliveries. I always choose the 1st slot 9-11am, as then once my groceries have arrived, I can go out and do my other day to day things. shame is they're usually close to 11am to deliver my goods.
The downside of my Tesco's is that they dont deliver fresh fish from the fish counter, only the pre-packed fish, which I have found to be not as fresh.
so I still have to traipse to the supermarket at least once a week, to get some fish, but at least I'm not lugging other heavy things.
Another reason, why I have to visit in store is to use the vouchers!!0 -
I think I would prefer to go around the shops - I can go most days (I'm one of the lucky ones) so it's fairly easy and I think I would like to see what I am buying. One of my friends has tried Tesco and had problems so I havn't been all that bothered.

We tried both Tesco and Sainsburys, admittedly a few years ago now, but have been using Ocado.com for the last 3 or 4 months and find them brilliant.
The main reason is that the other online shops fill your order from the local supermarket, so if a Joe Public shopper beats 'your' online shoppers trolley to the shelf you've lost your product. With Ocado the products come from a huge warehouse (which Waitrose treat as another, albeit large supermarket) and if it's on the website and you select it it's more or less got your name on it. As a result (other than a system fault for which we were promptly compensated) we have had one replacement in 8 or 9 large (£100-£140ish) deliveries.
Add to that the one hour slot deliveries (which you can change up to a day before if needed), a great website interface (yes, you do have a favourites 'aisle'), no extra cost due to buying stuff being on offer that you don't really need, and it really is a time saver.
The downside? It does seem a bit more expensive than shopping at Tesco or Sainsburys (but who wants to spend 2-3 hours trawling around the supermarket over each couple of weeks), and I would add is that fruit is chilled (as are all non frozen goods) on the delivery from warehouse to home - so bananas can go a bit funny, and other fruit is sometimes marked. We also have the worlds supply of carrier bags...
