Is it me or what?
Ive never done the weekly shop on line before but keep receiving evouchers off asda for money off if you spend X amount of money.
Now being a savvy shopper I thought Id give it a whirl.
Well........ive just spent the last hour trying to find the products I wanted.
Firstly I really could do with my shopping tomorrow but first time slot is Tuesday teatime.
Cant find the regular products I usually buy even with a till receipt in front of me with barcode numbers on it.
Gave up after an hour and will drag kids round asda in morning and use my remaining money off vouchers.
Im sure once you have the first big shop on line under your belt it must get easier?? Or should I stick to doing it the good old fashioned way ??
Im torn.......those evouchers are so tempting lol
Any experiences would be appreciated.
(i might have got further with it if I hadnt had my 10 year old daughter gabbing in my ear throughout)

I have done Tesco on line twice, first time was a success, everything delivered no problems. Second time, OH was just out of hospital and they said he needed someone with him 24/7for 48 Hours so I decided to do online again. They didn't turn up at the time they were due (Friday night) so I called the store to be told they were short staffed ( no call to let me know they weren't coming). They decided to cancel my order, again I found out when chasing it up on the Saturday, but they charged me for it! It took a lot of calls to sort out but eventually I got a refund and one of their drivers delivered a gift voucher and a bottle of decent red wine... I prefer to gotothe store.0

Can only speak for Tesco online shopping as Asda don't deliver to my area.
I found the first online shop a total nightmare. It took absolutely ages and was so frustrating! It is so straightforward once you've done one shop, though, as the system 'remembers' all the items you've bought before and then it is just a matter of clicking on a list and adding any extras.
If you do tend to buy the same stuff most weeks, it is worth the frustration of that first shop!0 -
Asda online is terrible, and when your shopping turns up a large part of it will be missing or substituted (will vary between stores obviously, our local one is awful).
Tesco is much better these days, though Ocado is still best (but most expensive). Both sites are better than Asda at having delivery timeslots in the near future available.
Most of the sites will let you shop from previous orders so you just click on the things in the list you want repeats of, which is much faster. I've got it down to about half an hour now, with a lot of that spent going through the list of specials.0 -
I've used Sainsbury's on line a few times. It does take a while at first but gets quicker, delivery is good and only a few substitutions. I will definately use them again.
I would advise switching to broadband or a fast dial up to avoid too much frustration.Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Soreen Kierkegaard 1854.0 -
I've done Tesco online a couple of times and been very dissapointed. Most of food was on or near their best before dates. Items substituted for inapropriate volumes. ie. Wanted 6 * 25ml Apple juice for kids, but they substitue for 4 * 1 litre Apple juice ? Also on one occasion they failed to unload my frozen food items and was unable to get in touch with the driver as his mobile was turned off. Ended up being refunded and make a journey to another supermarket for missing items.
Tried Asda but thier available delivery slots have been too far away 4+ days.
Only decent online shop I've had was with Sainsbury's, only they've now stopped delivering to my post code?

We used to use Tesco on a regular basis, but this was just after it first started when it was really good. Since then, things got worse and worse, with delivery times virtually never met and the number of substitutions rising and rising. There were lots of errors, which were a pain. We therefore decided to try Sainsburys and they are very much better. They arrive in the agreed slot and any substitutions are sensible.
Getting started is the pain with all these on line shops. However, both Tesco and Sainsburys use information from your loyalty card to enable you to see your "Favourites". On Sainsburys, you can view these either by aisle or by a list, which means I can make my order in around 15 minutes. Easy and a lot less stressful than going to the supermarket!0 -
I do my online shop weekly at tesco.com and have had some problems with their substitutions. The trick is to be a little flexible with the stuff they have and get delivery on a slow day (Tues/Wed, early in the morning is normally good). If you buy the same stuff (or almost the same items) every week, they get better at your shopping. Also, if you buy in volume, they will be quite good at it. I prefer doing the shop online now than going to a supermarket and queing for ages on a Sat.
But it's not for everyone!

Thanks for all your replies.
I was mainly doing it to get the money off a big shop but as my kids are quite helpful and asda is only 5 mins away I think im going to stick to doing it in person.
A lot of the stuff I buy every week didnt seem to be available online anyhow and ive read no end of stuff on here about bad substitutions so off Ill trot in the morning just hoping its not pensioner day
No doubt be dodging kids instead but I have a full day off work so no rushMake £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
I use Sainsbury's quite a lot and find them to be very good. I've not tried anyone else, so I can't say they are better than the others, but I find the drivers very helpful & pleasant, on time or even early...they ring you first to see if it's OK to arrive early. AND they offer free deliveries Tuesday-thursday if you're spending over £70...saves you £5.0
