If the *highly trained experts* at Game can't recognise a fake, what chance has anyone else?0 -
I have a huge pile of fake GBA games - they were bought in Turkey (!) They were obviously fakes because they do not hide the fact, they were also extremely cheap. :money: Everyone of them looks and plays like the real thing. I have considered trading them myself in game but because I know they are fakes I cannot bring myself to do it. I have looked on Ebay also for GBA games-it is obvious that the games are fake when they are selling them so cheap and they come in mass from abroad-that said I do not mind as they work just as well.Games from Uk sellers we will never know. The OP could really not have had any idea that there was anything dodgy and did think he was getting a bargain so lets not be too hard eh? However..... why did you say the game was a present from Dubai..why did you not say you bought it on Ebay??
BTW I am thinking of buying this game - as you were so quick to trade it - is it no good ?????
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0 -
Can you please keep this thread on track please. The OP has not done anything wrong legally as game traded the game.
And as Martin always says please be nice to all MoneySavers0 -
I'd like to rally to Parley's side on this one too! If Parley's knowledge of games meant that he was well aware that it was a pirate copy, then fair enough, it's on his concience that what he did was wrong. Bad Parley! *slaps wrist* However, if it was simply a legit copy that the original owner wanted to sell cheaply, then we should be celebrating his entrepreneurial skills!

Come on now, give Parley a break.

I do not think we are encouraging terrorism by buying a fake DVD, game or sweatshirt! It is a fact of life that marvelous counterfeit goods are readily available and tempting to say the least as the difference in price is enormous and generally the quality is good. If we did not buy them someone else would.
The original post was about the great savings that can be made by buying on Ebay and trading afterwards - this is indeed a fact. If you genuinely do not know if it is a fake then why not ... if you do and get away with it ..why not. Game are not stupid - they were given the facts - there was no original box - they know that pirate copies are so close to the real thing that it will never be noticed - especially by the unsuspecting person who will buy that game in Game. At the end of the day though, if it works and gives pleasure does it really matter. I think the OP had a great bargain and did make a profit-they bought the game in good faith - I on the other hand knew exactly what I was buying when I bought countefeit games and I do not believe that makes me guilty of encouraging terrorism! It made the difference of one GBA game for christmas or seven... sometimes I turn blind eye.I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0 -
Hmm. Ok, so I could veer heavily off topic here, but:
1. Piracy funds terrorism in the same way that milk fuels my car, or mango chutney powers the sun. I realise that piracy is no laughing matter, but I don't think Interpol are improving things by bounding around outlandish claims without any substantial evidence to support them.
2. Unless the OP confesses to waving a Jolly Roger throughout the transaction or accepted his refund in doubloons, I'm yet to see any reasoning for assuming that an act of piracy was commited.. This all seems to be quite speculative.
Y'arrrr,

We buy games from ebay (CERTAINLY not fakes) and when we've had enough of them we take them to Game and trade them in. It's totally legit.
Game take the games into the back room and test them before offering you a trade in price so they know that they're not damaged. If there are no instructions then they will display this on the box when they re-sell them.
I personally think that Game are fantastic for recycling unwanted games in this way. Not only are they providing us with a way to get rid of the games we'll never play again but they're offering us the chance to get the best games at a huge reduction just because they've been played a couple of times.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

The OP has never once stated that it was a pirate copy. People are assuming this becuase of the OP's description. I dont think Game would take pirated copies to sell on can you imagine the fine and trouble they would be in if they did?0
