A Treat for Feet?!!!

Options
A friend of mine is heavily pregnant (lucky b**** :rotfl: ) and she is having terrible problems with her feet. They are hard skinned, rough and pretty ugly looking.

I said id appeal to Old Stylers to see if there is any home made remedies to cure nasty feet?

Dont say try flexitol heel balm or soaking in wee like someone said as she throws up instantly on the mention of wee or uric acid  :rotfl:

Can she actually reach her own feet? When I was pregnant I always could, but a friend of mine even had to get her dh to shave her legs from 6 months because she couldn't even get to her shins!! If she can't, then she's going to have to enlist the help of her OH.

I always like just a soak in a foot bath with some bubble bath in. Please be careful with EO's as there are some pregnant women can't use - take advice. Once soaked and softened, use a rough skin remover to buff away the hard bits then rub lotion in. Trim and poish nails as required.

I have a friend who is a midwife and she said they hate women going in with polished nails because in the event of and emergency section, they had to faff around removing polish. I did have mine done though - made me feel better :)

You are not supposed to use peppermint products on pregnant ladies either so no minty foot items.

Otherwise the footbath and treatment as described by Ticklemouse is my favourite way of treating my feet.

    To be done at night:
When she's got rid of the hard skin with a pumice (or a scrubby thing from boots etc) apply vaseline, put socks on and leave on overnight and - tralaa, soft, silky feet in the morning. Obviously don't walk on slippy surfaces before removing the vaseline!

Parafin wax is good for softening skin. Melt the parafin wax, paint over the foot. wrap in cling film and leave a while. Peel off the wax like a pair of socks and apply lotion. put on a pair of socks and rest a while.

What about olive oil and salt meixed together as a foot scrub.

I must admi though, when I was pregnant I could not touch my feet and I had to book a chiropodist to cut my toenails.

One thing that she can do of course - depending where she lives is if there is a local college that trains chiropodists, they usually run a clinic free of charge.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

    That's Very Good Advice!

    - I once put some handcream on my heels, thinking it would make them nice and soft, then ten minutes later slipped down the stairs. I wasn't hurt just a bit shaken and that was on carpet.

My method leaves feet nice and soft and involves hardly any effort.

Mix lemon juice and granulated sugar to a paste.

Apply to areas of feet with hard or dry skin.

I then put my feet in a plastic bag and put old socks on top - you can either pad about for a few hours or else do this just before going to bed.

Rinse off solution and the dry hard skin disappears.

Works like a charm - dead cheap and no leaning at awkward angles fiddling around with the feet.
I did this last year and am just thinking of doing it again.
