Try Big Barn Dave. Type in your postcode and it will tell you where your nearest farmshops, farmer's markets, veg box delivery schemes and other local producers are ;)

You can have a look for your region on here or just watch out for roadside farms as you are going about your daily travels...

I would imagine some of the less business like farm shops are not on the net ;)

  • Well, we live in Lincs and are surrounded by veg fields :-) Farm shops are everywhere and yet it amazes me to find so many people still getting their veg from the supermarkets around here. It's fresher, tastier, cheaper and longer lasting from the farm shops and more importantly it's grown here, not abroad!! The farmers are much more friendly than Mr Supermarket too, I've had one farmer giving me his fresh flowers when I had my baby, and another climbing his apples trees whilst I waiting to give me the freshest apples for weaning my baby (I hadn't even asked for apples!!) - I just love living here, though it's a real shame some others here don't appreciate what's on their doorstep :-)
  • I'd do what one poster suggested and keep your eyes peeled. I've had a look at big barn and it didn't list a single one of the farm shops in my area (most are quite commercial with cafes!)

I've been searching that website but can't find anything. I live in Mitcham, surrey. My postcode is CR4 3NU. Does anyone know of any farm shops near me?

I too paid my first visit to a local farm shop yesterday and yes I'm sure it was cheaper than Mr T. I got a big bag (12kg) of King Edwards for £3.45, bag of cox's apples for 99p and other bits and bobs felt a bit guilty when I got home and discovered they hadn't charged me for my carrots :o The spuds were grown there so were some of the other veg like cabbage and cauli and they label all their stuff so you know where its from.

Try Big Barn Dave -I posted the link above ;) Not sure I'd give my postcode out on a public forum though -you might want to edit your post.

If you buy bigger sacks of spuds they're usually even cheaper -20 kilos for £4 at my local farmshop, own-grown too.
