Clearly you have some interest in Lovefilm that goes beyond being a customer. You are sounding slightly obsessive.
  • I'm pretty sure that it's Amazon that's bought Lovefilm, so the service if anything should improve to Amazon standards?

I dont know what you are implying there Gweeky but I am cetrtainly NOT employed by Lovefilm nor do I know anyone who is.

Why is it so hard to believe that I am just someone who adores movies? You seem to be trying to accuse me of being a staff member..

Surprisingly enough I am a person with a lifelong love of films and as a customer of Lovefilm for many years am very very familiar with their service and what it offers. I did go back and do the research just now on the titles available to watch online cos quite frankly your statement that they offered a dire choice beggared belief.

Clearly you are just not interested in answering my comments or addressing the issue, concentrating your posts on insults and false accusations.

  • I thought I would share my recent (5 minutes ago) experience regarding cancelling my LoveFilm subscription. On the first attempt to cancel my subscription the customer service rep took my details, logged into their database and then said the system was down and could I call back within 2 hours. I said yes, hung up and redialled. The same thing happened.

On the third attempt, within 3 minutes of the first attempt, I didn't ask to cancel my subscription, but to change my card details - miraculously the system was working! I then changed my mind about the card details and cancelled instead, and it all went through fine.

If you're fobbed off with "the system is down, call back in 2 hours", don't wait that long - just call back immediately and ask to change some other account details, like your card, instead.

and again insults and accusations without actuallyaddressing my comments and issues. I quite legitimately questioned your astounding comment that lovefilm provided a "DIRE choice" and so far you do not seem to be able to back up this comment with any evidence or anecdotes. One might argue if I was to stoop so low as to accuse you of being pompous by making overblown statements that the service/titles are dire without any supporting evidence but that would be as churlish as your continual insults are. Do you do this in person when having a conversation/debate/exchange of views?Resorting to personal insults after making wild statements??

Again you do not appear to have read or respond to anything I say - is this out of embarrassment when your comment about a service with several thousand discs giving a DIRE choice to customers has made you look a fool? I have to ask you why you have chosen not to defend your use of the statement DIRE choice with evidence..

You are starting to sound like a bitter ex employee with an axe to grind...as you do not seem to be able to comment further on why you found the service so"dire"...

    my experience of lovefilm :
    - selection of films is very good. obviously a lot to rent in the first 2 or 3 months of membership. this drops off afterwards as I had watched all the best one, but a couple of new good ones come out every month so I just dropped my membership down to a lower price.
    - new feature of watching movies for free/with package online is very good. enough films to keep me happy for a few months
    - cancellation of account. my mate cancelled his account due to cutting back on his spending. he did this online shortly atter midnight. no probs.
find a deal....pass it on

Thanks for sharing singledaddy. Personally tho as I said before I do not work for them, I have found Lovefilm a good service (as I have posted here before). I have rented over 700 titles (and NO i dont just watch everything that comes out like someone i used to know did)and as you say it does drop off after you have caught up with the amount of films you have been wanting to watch.. (its coming to the end of the line with me tbh) Like you I just dropped the package down and might even go to pay as you go..

The watching films etc online is also quite good for those in between times when you have a free moment or when deliveries are taking a while..

I dont find they badger you when thinking of cancelling. I have mentioned a few times abuot possibly cancelling when talking about saving my credits up to use when I downgrade due to finances and I have had no problems or hectoring to stay. They quite understand and offer even account holidays. There seems to be real people on the end of their phones and not the usual badgering and aggressive sales technique you get at other companies. I have told the guys who try to get people to sign up for Sky in my local shopping centre that I dont own a TV and STILL they tried to get me to buy their packages!!

  • When you do get enough of LoveFilm it seems to be very hard to actually cancel your account. They insist you either call a freephone or regular number and when you do, you find yourself connected to a very bad line with a computerized voice at the other end saying it can't understand what you're saying: a great way to make it impossible for folks to cancel! How's that for customer satisfaction?
I am really rather unimpressed by this and it would be enough to never touch them with a barge pole again..

So, to cancel, the only thing you can do (and they DON'T tell you this; I am) is to call their customer services, explain that you want to cancel and be prepared to answer a number of questions. They can also be called on 020 8631 0020..
