i've just realised i cant go up and down on my chair with the lever thing. does anybody know if you need to do anything with it before you put it together? or does anyone have a link to the page that is on hotukdeals (i can;t find it myself)
    anyone?
Wins since June: iPod shuffle 1gb, Samsung g800, cinema ticket, lush retro giftbox, 2x mp3 downloads, a big box of food (???)
  • I had the same problem, try pulling the lever outwards away from the chair and then adjusting it. When it's pushed in it's locked.

Take your bum off the chair and when you push it it should rise, and fall when you sit on it. You should be able to feel the lever push the button on the top of the thing in the middle of the chair. If it presses it and it doesn't rise, the gas lift may be broken (mine is on my chair that's a couple of years old from Viking, and the chair stays at the lowest setting - just waiting for new one). If it doesn't press the button, it's possible you put the seat on top incorrectly.

I completely forgot about the free radio when ordering the chair last night, so I rang them just now and they said "no problem, we will add it, order should be with you tomorrow." :)

i might have put the seat on wrong then, because the lever doesn't seem to do anything at al;l, just kind of wobbles about and doesn;t feel like its attached to or pushing anything IYKWIM. thank you :)

    me too!
but although they promised to bring the radio along, when I received the chair, the radio was not there!
I sent them an email, they said they will have a look at it and did not come back to me since then.

I think I did the same with this chair when I got it new ages ago. I think I took the chair bit off and put it back in making sure the lever thing went where it should.

Have you tried getting someone heavier to sit on the chair? If you are a bit on the light side then it may be that the bottom of the seat hasn't fully engaged onto the button on top of the gaslift. I got my son to sit on the chair first (he's heavier than me) to make sure it was firmly pushed onto the gaslift, then pulled the lever outwards to unlock it. As anewman has advised, take your bum off the seat, pull the lever fully upwards and the seat should rise, then while sitting on the seat pull the lever up and it should lower the seat. There is a bit of a wobble on the lever until you pull it right up.
Alternatively turn the chair upside down and you may be able to see if everything is as it should be, you can try the height adjustment while it's upside down the first time, once it's initially moved then it should be fine after that.
Customer services number is 08001971747, they should be able to advise you further or arrange for a replacement if necessary.
