I bought 2 x JML edge knives from B&M at £1.99 each.
I can vouch for them being excellent and cutting through anything as I've been to hospital twice now for my finger ends seeing to!
(PS... This aint't a joke. It's a laugh, but it's true)0 -

Of course not, because it is designed and bought to cut into metal. Kitchen knives are not and I doubt many have a household knife in their kitchen drawer that will do it and stay sharp.
The knives Tesco are selling are frequently shown on the shopping channels, hammer and all. Not sure that's a good sign or not.0 -
bought the JML one for £1 in poundstretcher couple of years ago .
Only knife i use .. does everything fine .0 -
Got my free paring knife from a demonstration in House of Fraser. Didn't buy the set because demonstrations like that seem to smack of charlatanry, but it's been about 2 years now, and it's still my sharpest knife. In fact, in a fit of marvelling at its sharpness, I decided to see what make it was and look it up online. All I seem to need in the kitchen is that knife and my Forschner/Victorinox santoku. And you can't beat the price of free! Would sit through more demonstrations to get more free paring knives. Still don't know that I would spring for the set though. I don't like being manipulated into purchasing more than what I actually want/need.0

ive had a couple of paring knives free and they are great for peeling apples, potatoes etc - had mine about 4 years and still sharp. Bought one of the knives they demonstrate that cuts through frozen meat - I think it may be same one and that is very very sharp. I bought the knife from home bargains 1.99 the same day they were selling two knives in tesco for 19.99 - bargain...0

Can anyone who is aware of the next demonstration to take place in a Northern Ireland Tesco (or any that have taken place over the past few days) let me know which store please and dates?0

Our local tesco sell these anyway and from what I remember the pack contains what you get if you buy during then demo. I think they're £25 a set.0

Occasionally when I'm bored and sat alone in the house I flick through the shopping channels on Sky for a laugh (sad I know).
The knives you refer to often pop up. The guy indeed cuts into a hammer head. He also cuts a tin of corned beef in half (in case you've lost the key?) and a frozen block of fish and then cuts into the edge of a marble cutting board. He then holds the knife horizontal to the worktop, sharp edge upwards and drops a tomato onto the blade which slices it effortlessly in two!
Appears quite impressive however as somebody mentions above they look quite light and I too prefer a heavier knife.0 -
I have bought the set of knives you mention. I have had the 3-4 years now and they are great, I dont use anything else now. However whether they are cheap or not I'm not sure but mine have lasted this long and show no signs of wearing.0
