Can't deposit to Principality, also should I trust them?

  • I always thought that if an account had a cheque facility it was, by definition, a current account.

    From thefreedictionary.com:

What other (non-current) accounts are you referring to that will allow you to write cheques?

"Please note: in order to complete the setting up of this linked account, you will need to send us a cheque drawn from this account. "

From your quote, no mention is made of the word current account, therefore a current account is not specified, from a non current account to be linked a cheque would have to be obtained that is voided and refers to the account in question. ( im sure other Building Societies would be able to do this.)

Otherwise transfers cant be made direct from Principality E-Saver to most regular saver accounts or direct to a savings account which makes the account 50% useless ( up to 5 days just to reach a current account is a weeks loss of interest, :( ) hence the reason i just keep 100.00 in mine. ;)

    While it does say :

" Why do I have to have a UK current account to open an e-SAVER?
You need a UK current account to move money in and out of your e-SAVER account."

Principality did tell me during queries i raised with them in April 2007 that withdrawals can be made to most Building Society Accounts, otherwise what is the point of having a facility of 6 linked accounts. ( after all most people only have one current account, with a minority of people having more than one current account)

    That's a matter of opinion.

Another opinion would be that, for someone who is managing a significant sum of money, regular saver accounts aren't always worth the time and effort to manage.

I have personally had bad experiences with Principality and would not recommend them to anyone. You would probably be best off getting your money out and putting it in a larger more trustworthy bank/building society. In my opinion Nationwide is one of the best out there.

    Care to expand?
Been with them for around 3 years and not had a problem.
... but, then again, I have heard that there are two satisfied customers of Abbey ... mind you, they have been dead for seven years ...
  • The PBS account is open - will a joint account be able to be used to transfer money in? IE from a linked account - PBS have already received a cheque from this account and have not answered my request for this information in 4 days

    OK thanks

I have added the 2nd linked account 5 days ago and they have a cheque from the 2nd linked account credited but only the original comes up in the drop down box when trying to submit a DD request

Also I can not view 2secure messsages by pressing VIEW - all I get is a blipping noise

    Anybody else experienced this?

If I remember correctly it takes a while for the links to come through. They probably have to make a paper arrangement with the other bank/BS.

e-SAVER now @ 6.00% - down 0.30%, according to Principality's website. Hope this heads-up helps some folk, here...?Direct Debit setting up is indeed often problematic via their site, in my experience. Prevented me being able to boost my e-SAVER balance with about £30 to reach minimum to open their January Fixed Rate bond. Messaging service repeatedly failed to fully respond. Appears because I too (like above poster-but-one) was unable to view Direct Debit confirmation messages, way back last summer, so their system disregarded my 'permission'!

Yip I decided last summer best thing to do with Principality E-Saver was just to leave 100.00 in it. ;)
