state pension payment cycle

weekly pensions are paid in advance (that's why we get them this way) and are there on a Monday morning, when you log into your account.:T I am getting two weeks tomorrow and weekly starting from monday. That was so easy to arrange. I would not have thought of weekly if I hadn`t read it here
I rang the local pensions office last Thursday 16th (after just finding this thread) and asked to change my pension payments from the 4 weekly cycle to weekly.
My usual 4 weekly payment was made on Friday 17th and I thought the weekly would start today 20th. Checked my account this morning but it hadn't been paid.0 -
In the days when certain benefits were paid by order book at the post office, each benefit was paid on a different day. Child Benefit on Monday, Widow's Benefit on Tuesday.....
That's why I get my state pension paid on a Tuesday, because I changed from WB.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Thanks for your reply.
I understood it was a Monday that the weekly State Pension was paid. I'm not a widow, so it's just the ordinary State Pension.
My husband phoned and asked for his to be changed. His wasn't paid today either.
I'll check the accounts again tomorrow morning.0 -
Apparently, benefits/pensions will all be changed to fortnightly in arrears over the next few years. I read that in The Guardian last week.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

I don't think it's reasonable to expect the pensions office to get the arrangements changed in less than two working days - even commercial banks don't work as quickly as this. It'll probably be there next week.0 -

I think it was on Radio 4's Moneybox on Saturday - you may be able to 'listen again' from the BBC website0 -
This doesn't appear to affect the state pension.

No doubt it will deliver a big one-off dollop of money into the Govt's coffers, every littel helps.Trying to keep it simple...0 -
I have been receiving state pension for 15 months now and it plops into my bank account regular as clockwork every monday. I like getting the pension weekly and I use m/s money, inputting the bills for 3 months in advance so I can see how much to budget and how much I need to add from the savings0
