Maternity Coats

Options
Hello All,
I don't suppose anyone has seen anyone (either online or in store) selling maternity coats. It seems to be a glaring omission from all the catalogues I've seen.
Thanks,
Rich

Dont bother with them, seriously. I have had 3 kids. Ponchos are in at the moment and will be useful afterwards too. The body temperature rises when you are pregnant so walking around with your coat undone is not a problem. I had a great heavyweight wraparound cardi from M&S which was ok after the birth too.
I found that a lot of 'over the head' style fleeces were big enough to fit me and my bumps inside, although avoid the ones with a kangaroo pocket unless you want to look (and feel) like a teletubby. ;D

Of all the places I have looked, H&M sell one...thats it! (And its not very nice to be honest)

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and can *just* fit into my smart wool coat...after that I have a walking coat that is a bit baggier and after that I will pinch my husbands fleece! (Unfortunately I just look stupid in ponchos I can't carry them off).

Another option is to get a big scarf to wear with an undone coat.

I also have to agree with not going to the expense of buying a maternity coat. during pregnancy with all 5 of my kids, i just bought a coat a size or two bigger. maternity clothes do tend to be quite expensive and much better to spend the money on yourself after the birth as a treat.

Good luck with everything and take care x

I just bought a cheap extra large thin waterproof jacket when I was pregnant in the winter just to keep dry in the rain, it wasn't a maternity one, just got it from a sale in local "outdoor" shop. Otherwise I wore my husband's fleece or just my usual coats, undone, with a scarf.

You could try second-hand, e-bay or I think there are a few specialist 2nd-hand maternity sites such as
    https://www.budgetbumps.co.uk

Or check out the NCT to see if they are having any sales in your area.

Gotta agree with the comments so far. Get yourself a decent sized fleece and a cheap waterproof. If it's for work or formal, just wear your normal nice coat opened, with a scarf. You'll feel nice too in your normal stuff ;)

First time around I bought everything. This last pregnancy I only bought 2 pairs maternity pants and 4 maternity tops (well, i was very pregnant at xmas ;)) All from Dorothy Perkins (good prices in the sales)

I was the one in the school playground in the middle of December with the bright red cheeks cos believe me, by week 35 you have your own, personal, central heating system. ;D

Next time remember... conceive in November...Baby due July = no coat ;)
Just run, run and keep on running!

I thought I might last without a coat but now that it's November and I'm 8 months and I live in Scotland I had to give in. Ended up getting a beautiful clasy coat at - of all places - Matalan in size 18 (i.o normal 12/14) for £40 which I am very happy with.
I love it when a plan comes together :rotfl:

there is a lot of lovely maternity wear on E-Bay, often sold as a bundle of items, the great thing is that when you have finished with them you could re sell them ;D

:D I bought a belted mac from Evans, hopefully I can cinch it in after the birth to see me through the winter and then I'll sell it on ebay next year to recoup some of the money.
    Titch :)
