Junior IT Technician with a difference.
MoneySavingExpert.com is looking for a self starting IT technician with a broad interest in server technologies to work in its West London office. The role has dual responsibilities; the primary role is to provide support the team of both MoneySavingExpert.com and ItPaysToWatch including maintaining our office- based Microsoft network.
This will involve dealing with day to day PC support issues, maintaining the network, Internet and telecoms and liaising with our server support company on more complex issues.
The secondary responsibility will involve learning and dealing with Linux based web servers, liaising with our managed server hosts to ensure that we have the most optimal system possible. You will also be required to aid the Development team to help with the design, build and maintain our custom built software.
Essential skills:
Microsoft Windows Client OS and Office.
Basic Networking
PC hardware
Basic HTML
Desirable skills:
vBulletin (or similar forum software)
Microsoft Windows Server
DNS
Cisco technologies
Apache Web server
Linux (FreeBSD preferred)
Linux Shell
MySQL & PHP + modules server configs
nginx
squid
memcache
The final applicant will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible attitude and have the ability to work outside of normal hours.
