you check your bank account every day and reconcile it to the penny
you spend half an hour on the phone to the bank (using sayno to 0870!) to 'discuss' a bank charge
you have best friends who've you've never met but give you a lot of support on here.
you log onto mse daily and subscribe to threads so you can read what happend the previous day during your lunch break cos you're horrible employer won't let you in the forum.
your other half collected their small change and turns to you in Mc D's and says here's the 5p change is better in your purse than their charity box
you close doors cos you're not heating the street (aka my mum's favourite saying when we grew up and now mine)
you check for discount vouchers before you buy anything
you turn part of your front garden into a veggie plot
you pick up sachets of sauces etc if you're lucky to eat out and acquire the excess.
you have a spreadsheet with the cost of your favourite grocery purchases with the prices at differernt supermarkets in diff columns so you can always get the cheepest.

boy do i sound like i live here!
  • you know you're a dfw when family and friends don't donate clothing to the sally army bin anymore, they give it to you to sell on ebay.

and i am finding it harder to resist the temptation of climbing in the clothing bin to pinch ebayables.
  • you have a pigback account in your name, and one in your partners...
... and you order theatre tokes from them both to pay towards his birthday pressie :o

Mr SSJC want to see Jimmy Carr live and Ive just ordered some tokens to bring down the price of the tickets  :D
  • You watch Martin's programme and realise you haven't learnt anything new, even though some of the items on there don't apply to you :o

you realise the only "debts" you have are your three mobile phone company accounts & you only ever argue about finances with them & no-one else - incorrect billing

    Orange, Vodafone & 3
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Since I have been on this site, I have:
    • Always checked the Boots ACM for freebies (thanks to boots for the free shampoo, and Olbas tissues)
    • There are 2 sites that I check in the morning & evening - online banking and MSE
    • Started the sealed pot challenge (bought a pretty pink spotted Terramundi for £2 coins, and a huge Coke bottle for 20p and under - I might have to open the coke bottle on 1st July 2009 (my 30th ), as I want to fill it to the brim
    • started justifying why I do not have anything from the coffee shop/vending machines when they do 'rounds' at work. Let on that I would much rather have a holiday than a Skinny mochachino frappe latte. I work in Finance, so really, I do not like to let on that I owe £17k
    • When I lived in my falt, I woke up at 3am to use the tumble dryer - cheaper electric
    • oh, just thought of another - I now take sandwiches to work, and enjoy reading a library bopok rather than spending money at lunchtime.
Debts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,000

I get free samples sent to friends as well as myself. If it something I will use i know they will hand it over (and visa versa).
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
  • These have made me chuckle - especially the spending £2 coins being against the law one!

Well for me it is when I find myself starting sentences with 'Martin says....' or 'The Boards say......' on anything from birthday presents, homemade bread to computers:rotfl:
