  • Great thread. I am a big fan of travelling light, and have picked up a few tips from this thread. I always take a small bar of soap with me, rather than lots of lotions & potions. I like my own shampoo & conditioner, so usually take bottles which have a bit left in, and leave them behind. I also leave clothes behind. Not "tatty stuff" but things that I don't wear at home, and would give to a charity shop.

I always take a swimsuit, underwear, change of trousers & a couple of tops in my hand luggage, then if case gets lost, I am not stuck. I also pack half my stuff in oh case, and vice versa.

And I always take a coat hanger with me! I have a few "wash & wear" tops which I can rinse through and hang over night on a hanger in the shower, dry the next day, and crease free!:)

oh also, throughout the week before get your case out and drop all the clothes/toiletries that you are thinking of taking in the bag .

A few days before look at it all again and then aim to take a few things out. There are always a few things you can live without. E.g. do i really need 2 pairs of flip flops?

Get books or audio books from the library saves you a few bob too!
