Tesco Misleading Customers? Beware

I have a waitrose and sainsburys close by, but in term of quality, choice and value Tesco's is worth the extra 2 miles IMO.. and I don't mean average of all factors I mean any one
"Tesco" and "quality" are two words I generally would not associate! (None of their stuff is really bad but unless you pay a fortune for their overpriced premium stuff most of it's not that great either). Certainly plenty of choice though.
I guess it all depends on what you usually buy. Now Somerfield... there's a shop which consistantly falls down on quality, choice and value!0 -
You are quite lucky that you consider 4.3 miles away that Asda is too far.
I suspose it depends if you drive or not, do you not drive?
My nearest is Waitrose at 3 miles but can't buy loads in there, another mile on is Tesco is at 4 miles, then in another direction I have a Sainsburys & Asda then in totally another direction I have Morrisons at about 8 miles.
I actually considered myself lucky to have all that choice, but none of it is on my doorstep.
I don't find any real difference between the big 4, Waitrose & M&S are very expensive, but the others are all the same I think.

Yes I do drive, but by the time we have driven there and back the saving is nil, taken up by the cost of fuel..........we only use the car for the monthly shop, the rest of the time we go up and down on the bus, can't do that with any of the other biggies............I usually do a comparision shop on my supermarket before I go and Tesco almost always come out the cheapest............we cannot afford to shop at Waitrose which would be my shop of choice. They do deliver, but as pensioners we cannot afford their prices.
I agree that Tesco's quality can be suspect, I always look at fruit and veg very closely before I buy, and if anything goes off in what I consider to be an unacceptable time I take it back. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
My mum uses Sainsbury's home delivery and we've never had a problem - if something isn't available, they'll replace it with something similar, (e.g.they'll replace their Extra Special with their organic, which is roughly the same price.) Though I don't know how that'd work with Sainsbury's basics. If you don't want the replacement, you give it back to the driver and you get a refund.0

i would never shop with tescos greedy company they dont care who they put out of business or trample over to get what they want. They are too large and too greedy.
Harrogate is the one place that hasnt got one and they are proud of that they dont want one.
Whenever I am in Harrogate, there is always a queue of local people doing a bit of shopping at their very popular Tesco Express

Thanks to all for their tips on contacting Tesco about on line shopping and the contact email to terry leahry. DO NOT ORDER THROUGH TESCO DIRECT IF YOU NEED A VAT RECEIPT - you will just go round and round in circles
In January this year I bought £240 worth of items from Tesco Direct to equip an annexe for the busienss, all of which were received very promptly. However, this is where it all started to get difficult.
i requested a VAT receipt for this order on 9th January. On 15th Jan I rang to find out the progress of this. Guess what - no request had been made. So they requested another VAT receipt and said this could take up to 28 days
I rang again on 5th Feb to be informed that the receipt had been processed and was being sent from India. 13th Feb still no VAT receipt and I would have to wait the full 28 days before any further action could be taken.
26 Feb (now 28 days) and no answer from Tesco Direct so sent an email asking why the receipt had not arrived - guess what - no reply!
27 Feb rang again and was told again that it takes 28 days for the receipt to arrive and I could request another receipt but would have to wait another 28 days.
28 Feb rang again (now 32 working days later) and this time thought I was finally getting somewhere when I was told that as I had waited so long the receipt would be emailed to met. This has turned out to be a lie
29 Feb rang again only to be informed that VAT receipts cannot be faxed or posted from India. Requested contact number for the department in India so that I could ring them and find out what was going on - no joy there and just kept being told that I could request another reciept and wait 28 days. unable to speak to a manager and told there was nothing they could do except request another receipt. By now I am banging my head against the wall!!
You cannot even complain by email or phone it all has to be done in writing so wasting yet more time. I am emailing Terry Leahry today with my complaing and will see what happens.0 -
sent my email complaint off to CEO, Terry Leahy - finally got an apology, £10 off code & £15 credit back to my a/c.
i'll keep going with Tesco for a while & see how we get on, i do prefer Tesco but I'll defect to Sainsburys if they fudge up again!0
