Thanks celyn90 - the video link doesn't work but the instructions are clear enough. Trouble is the oil bottle I've got has such a narrow neck..........not sure I'd get a napkin through.............something smaller just might. Know what I'm doing tomorrow now..................lol

I've got a jar of pickled heads...........got it from the charity shop (where else) and really all it is is a lot of cloth balls with eyes sewed on them, crammed tightly into the jar.

More saucy version could be pickled b*ms..................lol

Got to travel 20 miles to our nearest M & S and haven't got any alco pop bottles..........can't see I'm likely to have.
Might be enough with the old oil bottles..........there's three of them. One I can't use as the cork fell in and I can't get it out.....................lol

Mary, hang around the bottle recycling bank, I do that for newspapers for our wood burning stove! I do get some strange looks until I explain though. :rotfl:

(Hoping to send off your boxes tomorrow, all being well).

rose_sparky - more than I dare do........hang around the bottle bank.........lol It's in Tescos car park and that tends to be the place where folk hang out with their cans of Special Brew.................lol

  • Ahhhh ye gads! I bet they're checking to see if there's any dribbles left in the bottom of the bottles!

    Whooops, back to the topic............

Back to topic......................if anyone bought (or has) one of those bottle cutting kits there's no end to what you can do (so I've read somewhere).
We've got a vase in out lounge that I'm sure was once a wine bottle cut just before the neck and edged with the lead stripping. Green glass bead stuck on it and it looks really good.
OH is now racking his brain to think of other uses for his empty wine bottles............lol His idea in the first place and now there's a thread about it he's gone all sort of 'proud'...................bless:j

I did see a couple of beer glasses made from beer bottles - where they had cut the bottom off, turned them upside down and stuck the bottoms on the necks to give a base to the glass, but I don't think it would be easy to do at home.

They sound like they were made by some sort of 'expert' in glass cutting..........most of the things I've seen have been fairly basic

ive really got an urge to put a message in a bottle and send it out to sea!

    i might do it!

Good idea put a love note in a decorated bottle. Or bath stuff.
  • My DD loves to use Decopatch to decorate used wine bottles, vases etc and give them as gifts. It can be bought from art shops and comes in many different colours and patterns...she even decorated my old nest of tables and they look fab!
