  • I did wonder that myself...

I've still not tried any on, but have several I've seen in magazines that I love. I'm now scared that I'll t something on and love it, and not be able to find anything similar on eBay. But I really don't want to pay £100s.

    Aaagggghhhhh!
  • Having looked more in eBay, the dresses appear to be from a Hong Kong seller.

They have 100% feedback, and many of the pics are on HK models rather than designer's images.

This wedding gown stuff is a minefield.

It is a minefield, I think I dropped lucky with mine, it was only £200 and fitted straight off the peg...

I think this is the UK version of the same seller http://stores.ebay.co.uk/u-weddinghome_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZQ2d33QQftidZ2QQtZkm

The good thing with the eBay sellers is, if you like a dress and they have something in a similar style, they're mostly happy to adapt it to suit what you want. My MOH dress was supposed to be in black but they made it for us in midnight blue and changed the beading and embroidery to match.
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I think it's very unlikely that you won't find anything similar on eBay.

If you do find something you like but can't find it listed email the sellers and ask. There are so many gowns out there that they can't possibly have everything that they have listed all the time.

They should be concentrating on making dresses to stop us from having to wait any longer and eating our fingernails :rotfl:

  • I've been thinking about it a lot, and chatting about it with my Mum at length, and I expect I will go down the eBay route when the time comes.

As my Mum reminded me, it only has to stay together for one day, so what does the quality matter (although as you have all said, quality is actually really good)? As long as it fits, eh?

The quality of mine is as good as if not better one that I tried on in a shop that was £600.

And I had it made to my length without having to pay any extra. When I asked in the shop they said they would order it in petite size and it would then have to be altered. Which would have been ok if the one I liked at the time hadn't had embroidery at the bottom of the skirt.

There would also have been the added hassle of fittings as it would have been a standard size rather than made to measure.

  • HI there I used to work for a bridal company and shop that both made one off dresses and off the peg also, The difference in price was quite vast between these choices although even the cheapest off the peg dress was about £300 (and not very nice, usually old stock) I have seen a lot of asian based ebay companys that sell prom/wedding dresses usually for under £200 (inc p+ p which is usually the main cost), a lot of them seem to make them up as you order so you send them your exact measurements and they tailor make them...this cost at least £900 in the shop I worked in for a simple style so seems like a great deal and is one I would probably take if I was wedding dress shopping myself. If you approach a company on ebay that has many styles then Im sure you could even negotiate for them to copy your 'dream wedding dress' from a mag picture etc :o). ( A lot of wedding dress shops buy their dresses from asia and thats why you sometimes have to wait months for it to be collected from the shop). :o)
    £264.05 / £11,000 in 2011 :j
frugal living 2011 total spend £300

Ah yes. I see that Milly Bridal will look at any dress, and will let you know if they can made a replica. Sounds perfect, so I won't be worried about trying on dresses and falling in love now! :T And as you say, they can change it to make it even better.

I'm so excited now. I don't know how much longer I can wait before I cave and make an appointment at my local bridal shop!
