I'm also shocked about how rude some people are. You are a good person not only to give away prizes you don't want but also to pay the postage, as I'm sure most people sell them on ebay. I hope these ignorant and ungrateful people wont stop you giving away unwanted prizes in the future.0

Well said all above... i have given to prizes away both to internet people.. one from here stayed in touch until it had arrived and was very grateful and took it because she wanted it anyway and was sad she hadnt won, so she won in the end. And the second i sent tickets to someone and never heard anything which i thought was really horrid so i mailed and said sorry they had not arrived...which i then got a reply to say they had. makes me so mad.... i dont mind giving to good causes and to people who take because they wanted anyway. but now i am very careful and over time i have learned alot... people are greedy and selfish. I only enter what i would want myself as it would be pretty wrong to have something i dont have a need for or to know i can give to someone i know in need.
well said above and making us all see how ungrateful some people are!!!!

I have had this problem on Freecycle - out of all the many (expensive) things I have given away, only 1 person has ever given me a small thank you gift in return, and only 1 other person has ever emailed back to say thank you for the item.
People's lack of manners is appalling, and I hope you have better treatment in the future!0 -
oh thank you for such lovely responses
My faith in there being nice people in the world has been restored!

Edited to add that I have had much better luck on freecycle, people have always been very nice and thankful - sorry to hear that some freecyclers are rude!0 -
I agree that's very rude, it doesn't cost anything to say thank you.Wins: Feb - Sam and Amanda DVD, Nanny Series, £50 Mother Day Goodies box0

I won some tickets towards the end of last year and offered them out on here, two people pm'd me (i had about two days to meet the postage) one of those wanted the tickets for her little daughter who loved the band in question. Unfortunately another MSEr had already PMd, I messaged him and asked for his postal address to which he replied that he would get it to me asap, i then pm'd back and said asked whether he definetly wanted them as a kid wanted them who loved the band. He pm'd and said that he was definetely going to give me his postal address to send them to (i was wondering at this stage why he couldnt just give it to me as everybody knows their address surely?) anyway i gave him the benefit of the doubt and guess what? nothing.... it was too late to send them to the other person, i was going to pay for special delivery and wanted the tickets to go to use. Thanks to this time waster who seemed to take pleasure out of the tickets going to waste this young girl missed out on watching AND meeting her favourite band, priceless special tickets went to waste and i was left seething. It is such a shame as I have won four or five sets of tickets since then, and now i dont offer them out on here I found it too upsetting that somebody could be so selfish and arrogant (and yes i know that the majority of people on here wouldnt do that), I now try and find a friend, relative or work colleague to give them to, otherwise they go in the bin. Im not saying I wouldnt offer a prize out on here again (especially if it was clear that somebody really wanted or needed the prize, sometimes i enter comps that i dont want if somebody says they are desperate on the thread just to give them another entry) but it does make me look elsewhere for recipients first. Its a real shame that a minority can ruin things for everybody else.
I think that those that havent thanked you for sending them prizes for nothing are dispicable and should be ashamed, they are like schoolchildren that have never been taught how to share their toys.0 -
Wow Ryan, I can't believe somebody would do that - it's atrocious behaviour. How upsetting.
I do sometimes offer tickets through work (we have an all staff announce email so it makes it easier). my fashion weekend tickets were snapped up, i had about 70 responses!
Freecycle can be a bit like that, people saying they want things, then not turning up, I get annoyed at that too, but thankfully the people who actually turn up tend to be very nice and polite.
It is amazing that people can act like that and not have their conscience pricking them!

I am gobsmacked at people's total lack of manners and plain decency! I tell you this, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't at least say thank you especially when you have been kind enough to offer your (often, hard earned and won) prizes.
What do they say "what goes around, comes around" - I certainly hope so! Some people!:j:T Total Prize Value 2012 - £1835 :T:j

That happened to my daughter with tickets as well, someone was going to collect them, and left it too late for me to pass them on to someone else who wanted them.
Some people are so selfish and greedy.0
