No it can't, it remains as dollars in a seperate pot and needs to get to the minimum withdrawal level to transfer out to the nominate dbank aco!!!! for free.

Anyway, the auction was on ebay uk (I assume!!) so it needs to be paid in sterling.

for some reason in the past i have ended up with payment in euros and payment in dollars balances in my paypal, only for small amounts, and i have easily converted them in to my GBP balance.

my boyfriends mum very recently had a paypal payment as a part refund from someone in europe in euros and i easily converted this to her GBP balance for her.

Maybe it i sbecause I have a very old paypal aco!!!! then. When I receive dollar payments it actually sits in a totally different pot and I cannot merge the sterling and dollars at all. Each has to be withdrawn seperately.

At one point last year I actually had a euro pot, a US dollar pot and a sterling pot and ended up paying out 25p each on the dollar and euro pot to transfer them to my bank account.

Way to stereotype! I don't think ignorance/arrogance is limited to one side of the Atlantic.

To the op: if the buyer is using PayPal, it will say exactly how much the amount will be in $, before they commit to pay. If they want a rough estimate, they could check https://www.xe.com. However, it's not your responsibility to send them a non-GBP invoice.

Unfortunately there are more Americans with this attitude.

Mine does that too - but have only had it four years or so

I'd still agree that it's the buyer's responsibility to pay in the appropriate currency, but you can change them in your PayPal account. They charge a small currency change fee though. :(

I think my fingers are dyslexic, if you could see how many corrections I have to make for each post! Until yesterday it was even worse as my keyboard had sticky keys and the space bar rarely worked first time.
