Rude american wants invoice in $

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help? I sold an item last night to the US and sent the invoice straight away. When I checked my emails this morning I had this email.

"Please send me an invoice including the total amount for the item won and shipping, converted to american dollars I will not pay until I am invoiced in american dollars"

That was the entire email.

I thought that the invoice would be converted automatically to US $ if it isn't can the invoice be converted manually to US $?

TIA
Mike

Tell them that the item was listed on ebay uk and the invoice will therefore 'obviously' be in the home currency. However once the invoice arrives the buyer can then just click pay by paypal and he will be debited in dollars.

Once you've sent that just wait, just keep stating that if you get any more messages, and if no payment has been received in 7 days start the NPB.

  • If this American buyer turns out to be as dim as they sound already, I can almost guarantee they will be "outraged" when they learn that the $ number will be almost double the £ figure.

    Maybe I'm just a cynic....
  • Thanks Soolin I have sent him/her an email. I will wait and see what they reply to that.

I think this is probably going to turn out to be my 14th NPB this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No you're not a cynic. last time that happened to me I just got a curt..'you want how much??? sorry but I don't want it now'. I had real satisfaction in giving them a strike and a neg.

You've got that right, Dan. I'm constantly amazed by how thick the average American buying on ebay seems to be, especially when most of those that I meet over here are most definitely not thick.

Maybe soo's TSFE should have an extra tag line - TSFE.com.

Hopefully, Soo, you gave them that neg even though you expected one in return. I've always handed one out where it's due, regardless of the possibility of a return neg.

The new rules regarding seller's feedback won't bother me much, except that I'll have to work even harder to ensure my DSRs stay over 4.6, and more people will go onto my BBL than in the past.

I've had my fill of stupid US buyers recently - two have sent me "Money Orders" which are like a Postal Order in US dollars, another sent me personal "check", again in dollars, and somebody also asked me if sending cash would be acceptable, and if so how much would it cost them to send me the cash.

    4 strikes, and 4 negs.

I think I'm going to miss leaving negs for stupid people.

I'm fairly easy going really but my last few batches of uploads have actually restricted sales to UK and European buyers only. I've just had too many TSFE.com (love that addition BTW!) and although all but one I managed to sort out I just can't spare the time to deal with any more.

Maybe later I'll re add the ability for the US market to buy my goods, but at the moment, no I'm steering clear.
