Rude american wants invoice in $

I'm fairly easy going really but my last few batches of uploads have actually restricted sales to UK and European buyers only. I've just had too many TSFE.com (love that addition BTW!) and although all but one I managed to sort out I just can't spare the time to deal with any more.
Maybe later I'll re add the ability for the US market to buy my goods, but at the moment, no I'm steering clear.
Like you, Soo, I've been thinking of no longer allowing US customers. I usually list on .co.uk, but usually have a few on .com too, and on both sites I allow orders form the world over.
Reading your post first time, I thought that it was time to follow suit, and stop my .com listings, but then, having a re-think, I decided I'd be cutting off my nose to spite my face, as I get quite a few orders from other countries (& the UK) from my .com listings.
What came to me in a blinding flash of light (I get very few ideas, so I'm milking this one) was to keep my .com listings, alongside my .co.uk, but (and this was the clever part) just remove North America as a delivery destination. I told you I get few ideas, didn't I? Sad, LOL.
So as my listings finish, I'll relist without the US ticked. This is such an obvious idea, but so against my previous policies, that I'm not really surprised I hadn't thought of it before.
I should no longer get TSFE.com buyers, and with the reduced visibility since last year, it shouldn't impact too much on my sales anyway.
BaffExclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
Should OF, would OF. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.0 -
If you are listing Buy It Now items rather than auctions, making them immediate payment only is about the only effective TSFE filter around.
It does prevent combined discounts on postage though, and also stops cheques/postal orders and bank transfers.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
when i get idiots like these, i just sit and ponder why they've been let near a computer.
i had one just before christmas and despite me telling him 4 times that i wont accept a cheque [spelt correctly, thank you] from america, he went ahead and posted it anyway. Needles to say, a strike & neg followed.
Oh, and he didn't even sign the cheque.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
If it's of any use, go to the ft website http://markets.ft.com/markets/currencies.asp, and use their currency convertor. You can give the American a rough idea of what his cost will be, before any conversion fees his bank may apply.
As previously stated, if he thinks he's getting an invoice in US$ from a UK sale, he's got a bit of self-inflated Amero-ego going on there. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
Typical American arrogance. I would pick an exchange rate which is beneficial to you and send him an invoice for $$$$$$$$$ with a curt reply0

To the op: if the buyer is using PayPal, it will say exactly how much the amount will be in $, before they commit to pay. If they want a rough estimate, they could check https://www.xe.com. However, it's not your responsibility to send them a non-GBP invoice.Pick battles big enough to matter, small enough to win. - Jonathan Kozol0 -

No the OP should ignore such stupid requests from buyers. If the buyer is invoiced in dollars then they can pay that way and the seller will end up with a dollar pot in their paypal account which is likely to just sit there.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'd be tempted to reply stating the above, if you send a dollar invoice, you'll receive dollars as payment, then add, 'I will not post until I'm paid in British pounds'Sigless0

it can be moved to the GBP balance can't it?
No it can't, it remains as dollars in a seperate pot and needs to get to the minimum withdrawal level to transfer out to the nominate dbank aco!!!! for free.
Anyway, the auction was on ebay uk (I assume!!) so it needs to be paid in sterling.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
