OH and his smoking habit!

Put the Allan Carr book in the bathroom - men love to read in there! The book worked for my sister but she started again after a year.
Good luck to all trying to give up, me included! We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
I can sympathise - I detest smoking.
My OH smoked when I met him, fair enough. He quit of his own accord and a year later we got engaged and started our family. 4 years later he fell seriously ill, suffered depression and went back to smoking.
At that point I had to try and understand that he needed an 'outlet' and really tried hard not to get at him about it, even though I hated kissing him and the smokey 'aroma' aggravated my asthma.
Give him his due though, he never once smoked around the kids, or in the house at all.
Anyway - after a couple of years I couldn't stand it any more and we had a discussion and I told him that. We agreed that I wouldn't nag him at all for a whole year (lol), and then he would do it in his own time...................and he did it! It's just over a year since he gave up and it's nice being able to kiss properly again:DCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I am a smoker and always said I would never marry another non smoker, but |I did. I only smoke in one room and get constantly nagged by OH and kids. I know it is bad for me. The only non smoker I know who is ok about me smoking in her house is my sister so I visit her more than any of my other non smoking relatives. It gets on my nerves, all the sanctimonious non smokers and ex non smokers ar e the worst. Now I have the government telling me that if I want to go for a night out, or have my break at work it has to be out in 9 degrees below.
It seems soon we will have to have a licence as well.
Well if all this hasn't stopped me, just made me more miserable nothing will.
I expect the OP's Oh feels the same.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Jo, just wanted to say you definately made the right decision.
Encouraging him to give up because of his health, rather than because of your preferences was definately the right way to go.
I hope with you support he does manage to give up!0 -
i gave up 7 years ago but after the death of my dad i started again.my wife has never even tried to give up.in the 8 years i stopped for i never once felt like i didn,t want to kiss her or cuddle up to her.she is my wife and much much better half.your fella obviously has qualities you find attractive but will you find the same qualities in someone who does,nt smoke.i imagine you started going out with him for who he was so why do you want to change him?will he be the same person after he,s stopped?my wife informed me that i am more layed back now i,m on the fags as i was always snappy and on edge for the last few years.why dont you ask him if there is something about you he would like you to change.
oo just re read this.sorry it sounds like i,m having a pop but i,m not honest.just not very diplomatic and putting into words what i think.my wife reckons its my weird brain going off in several directions at once.0 -
