Virgin Mobile PAYG

I'm thinking of taking helpful advice received to my earlier question.

My usage is likely to be variable. Do Virgin Top-ups have an expiry time limit?

They are offering me a Motorola V220 for 59.95 (incl. 15 pounds introductory voucher). Is this a good deal?

Tell me if you know of a better deal.

Thanks

No expiry limit on normal top ups. However you must make a call, or send a text every 180 days, to keep your phone active.

If you wanted the h/s only CPW would charge you £99.99p in one of there shops for one.

No expiry on Virgin. Only topped mine up in over a year.

NB the bolt-on deals do expire - beware. The basic credit doesn't.

I don't believe that that is the case. The terms and conditions state that your credit never expires, without qualification. Earlier this month, I fished an old Virgin SIM out of a desk draw that I'd not used in over nine months. I stuck it in a handset. The SIM successfully registered with the network. And, when I checked my balance, all my credit was still there. Probably down to Richard Branson's different view of what makes good business.

I too would recommend using DD.

Virgin and Three are the top two networks for gaining credit status - they are less picky.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

If virgin are the least picky then the others must be really difficult to get, virgin turned me down, even though I have a good credit rating

I recently got a reconditioned Moto V220 from Virgin. I've had nothing but trouble with it and Virgin customer service. With the first phone the back was damaged, so they sent another. With that phone the battery was obviously damaged as it was bulging. They promised to replace it, nothing happened. It took at least 4 calls to customer services to get a replacement battery, and I'm far from happy.

To be fare, up until now I've been happy with Virgin Mobile, but after all the trouble I've had with the V220 and another phone and their customer service people, I'm planning to use up my credit and switch to Tesco's mobile.

If you have no problems, Virgin are fine, but if you need to contact Virgin customer service, God help you.

I've always found Virgin CS to be excellent.

Maybe I called them on a bad few days, but things like being kept on hold for 20 minutes, having to call 4 times for the same problem, and having money that was supposed to be credited to my phone sent somewhere else, leave me far from happy.
I've only suffered one worse experience recently, and that company tried to steal my money. Maybe Tesco's customer service will be as poor as Virgin's, but it's worth a go.
