    Hiya Keeno,

Good for you for recognising the support you GF has given you in the past and that it is now your turn to support her.

You say that you have no money left to put to the debt, thats fair enough, Is your gf able to undertake bar work in the evenings or sign up to the mystery shopping companies to help earn a little more to pay off the debt?

good luck with the CAB tomorrow and ensure to let us know how it goes. we're all rooting for you.

But for now pop that soa up so we can take a look and advie possible wasy to cut back.

    Big hugs

  • Great news & well done for seeing that youre not perfect! Hello GF BTW!! Lots of people on here can help & we all look forward to seeing how you are both getting on! CCCS were great in my experience but whatever route you go dont be tempted by those ads that persuade you that you can have loads of dosh, holidays etc & al will be well! The only way to do this is slogging but we try & have some fun along the way! Any excuse for a party (virtual & some in real life!!) along the way! Keep us posted & hugs for you both!

Hi there, and well done for keeping on with the wedding!
PLEASE post your SOA, inc all APR's, income etc, and the very clever people on here will be able to offer their wonderful advice.

  • You sound like a really lovely partner. You guys will work this out somehow. It may not be easy but you'll get there - you won't get any fancy holidays along the way but I bet it'll bring you even closer together, you'll make some brilliant friends on here, be creative with your money, and learn loads and be able to prevent the money problems in the future and teach your daughter a precious lesson. Good Luck.

we sat here tonight and both read through this thread, our eyes have both filled up and my gf has had to leave the room. I want everyone to know how much it is all appreciated and my better half says thanks also.

Its nice to know we're not alone, :A
  • Hi Keeno,

Just found this thread and wanted to say well done to both of you..... Well done to ur gf for 'coming clean' as it must have been a huge burden to carry, and weel done to you for sticking by her....

I have helped my OH out of a hole many a time, and slowly he is coming round to the DFW way..... it's taken him a long time, but he's getting there! THe best thing I did was to stop seeing it as 'his debt' and 'my debt' as they both affect the family equally.... admittedly I only had this revelation yesterday, but it has made me be a bit less selfish about things..... I still won't have any joint finances with him, thats just how I am, but I will help to pay his debt off for him.... Especially as I am now 'in charge' and have all his cards he he :D

Seriously tho, if u two are serious about marriage etc, work at it together and everything will come good in the end!
Definately post an SOA so you can get any advice on where to cut back, and keep us posted on the wedding plans!

You're never alone on DFW
  • :T:TI'm glad that you've decided to tackle things head on and support her all the way - I hope she knows how lucky she is!:D

I'd really like you to have a look at snowballing your debts - you can do this on whatsthecost.com. You might just find that this gives you a little bit of perspective and a starting point to battle down the debt. I found it a great help.

Good luck, and best wishes to you both.x
