On hindsight I think should have done thought they were basically the same.

Erm, when it reaches the final sorting office it goes out with the rest of the snail mail with the same postie

but the most they will refund u tho is the price u paid for postage as they didnt deliver next day... which im guessing was £5.05?

if they compensate u for the month it took them to deliver it, it may only be a few more pounds :(

i think ull have to just keep on trying to get the most compo u can...

OOps sorry, I just re read the original post and noticed that the item was actually delivered. In that case I agree that the only charges that can be reclaimed are for late delivery.

Apologies..I have no idea how I missed that line in the post.

Not necessarily - round here 9am at least comes in its own van.

But often, yes. That postie has to sign for it when he picks it up and return a full signature sheet or the undelivered item when he gets back.

9am comes by van because a foot postie cannot (now with the later starts) make delivery by 9am
any SD items deemed small enough will go with the foot postie.
    larger items by van.

one small tip for anyone wanting an SD out earlier is to put it in something like a shoebox size box. generally van drivers will be out around 7-7.30am and would try and get SD items done ASAP although this depends on the spread of the duty and workload tbh

    start/finish times are arranged locally.
however traditionally saturdays are an earlier finish because during the week you have some longer days.
eg 2 30 minute longer days(rota'd) in the week means 1 hour 'back' on a saturday.
also mailsort doesnt have to be delivered on a saturday at the posties discretion

edit: reading the mailsort bit,i had better clarify
mailsort is the cheapest postal method RM offer to large mail users.
if you look at the likes of a BT bill you will see the big M symbol.
they way mailsort works is RM gets X days to deliver a set lot of mailsort.
saturdays are agreed as non mailsort days(a throwback to the early saturday finish)

however you still get mailsort coming down so some just take it out anyway rather than leave it for monday

I'm unclear what loss you suffered, Zinxyx. The recipient now has the ticket - did they miss their flight, or have to buy a replacement ticket?
