A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Could achieve a quicker result if my wife goes back to work f/t sooner than she planned - currently on maternity leave, and the plan is not to return to work for maybe 3 years.
My situation is if we stay where we live now. It is rapidly shrinking as the family grows. So making the move may mean I would be closer to 50 I guess. There is no plan to move just yet, but I reckon it is on the cards within the next 3 years or so0 -
I will be 48. I WILL have paid it off in about 4 months if I juggle my meagre savings. I owe under £3000 now. Its only this last year that I have really wanted to get it clear due to a lot of lurking on this board. The payments are £64 per month now but I have increased them to £500 for the next couple of months and I am debating whether to throw my savings at it. I am not too sure as they are my safety net and I have never really had savings and am nervous about that.
Good luck to every one !0 -
I'll be 40 when it's paid off...

The mortgage will be gone when I am 34 and DH is 35 (nearly 30 and 31 now). It will then take us another year to clear all other debts. I know how you feel. I'd have paid mine off by now (I'm 37) if we were still in the house we were in just over 2 years ago.
We were down to 30k on the mortgage and really hitting that capital.
But to be honest it was a small 4 bed and incomparable to this house. So it was the right thing to do for us.
Now we owe over £280k but we do now have two places and this house really is a long term keeper.... well, til the kids leave at least.0 -
Just became mortgage free 3 hours ago - apart from the £50 odd I'll leave there to avoid paying a £90 "redemption fee". I turned 41 two weeks ago0
