No need to apologize for not being a forum whizz, you just concentrate on opening a basic bank account (with debit card, branch, telephone and internet banking facilities)
Good luck and please keep us updated on how you get on

[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;]Thank you for your recent application for a Current Account. Unfortunately, after careful consideration we are unable to open the account you requested.
Our decision is based on information provided by Experian, our credit reference agency.
i try go to branc now and try to open cashminder acc

That's why your getting refused as you're applying for full current account not a basic bank account.
I would've gone with NatWest OR Halifax in all honesty as Co-op Cashminder online banking is rubbish as they don't take pending/reserved debit card transactions into account when displaying your available balance online and or telephone banking - which can and does lead to confusion.
You have to goto the cashpoint to get a true balance :eek:Proudly Banking & Saving With:

thanx i try Wednesday to go to halifax or natwest and keep you updated
many thanx0 -
The Halifax account is called EasyCash and the NatWest Account is called Step.
I've been with Halifax longer than NatWest and I find them both equally very friendly with great on-line access so find it hard to decide which to use as my main bank but, NatWest has the edge as they inital all pending/reserved debit card transactions online but, Halifax don't inital them but, do reflect them in your available balance
Good luck and thanks for keeping us updated - appreciated

You might want to check that there is no fraud warning, either against your person or against your address.
(Normally the bank would offer you a basic account, if they cannot open a current one.)0 -
about 2 years ago in was my ID froud in Lloyds tsb account, and abou year ago it was in barclays acc, then barclays closed my account and they said they dont want to dealwith me anymore and as they said they dont want to open any more accounts with me

so maybe it is something registered againts my name as you said FRAUD WARNING or something, how do i need to delete it or something because i need to open normal acc to get my credit score better, and i need to sell some stuff on ebay to make some cash to repay my debts, but i cant to either of them
and how can i check it ??
and if i have froud warning can i open basic acc or nothing at all ????
Many thanx0 -
try citi bank
i also was refused a normal account by other banks, now i have a citi bank account, they also gave me a credit card with a high limit on it which was suprising as i only work part time.0 -

Woah there... my advice is to stop right there and stop applying for any more accounts until you figure out why Experian refused you in the first place. This is because everytime you apply for an account they do a credit cheque on you which will leave a 'footprint' on your report. If you keep applying to different organisations over a short space of time your credit report can be made worse (I even heard this advice while waiting on hold to speak to an Experian representative today). So first thing to do is to find out why you were refused in the first place and see if you can rectify the problem. Check out their website for details of how to do this and how to apply for a report (if you havent got one already) - Experian Website
I recently applied for a joint account but were refused. I found this odd as it was with Barclays with whom I have been a customer for ages and thought this would pretty much guarantee us getting a new account easily. My girlfriend spoke to Experian asking for a credit report but was told she couldnt have one until they proved her identity as she has recently moved in with me. The penny dropped - this was why it was rejected and I think if we used her old address we probably would have got the account. She has sent the necessary proof to Experian and they have advised her NOT to make any more applications until all her details have been updated.
Hope this helps and good luck with sorting it as I know from experience how uneasy it can make you feel when you are told that your credit report is not in the best shape but untold why...
