    Mortgage-free Glee!
my own bug bear is the speed of dispatch....

I work in a PO, I am there everyday, I always post as SOON as I have recieved payment, yet is that not quick enough for some ebaying buying folk who obviously thing is should be mailed before they have decided to buy it !!!
  • I suspect the reason some buyer don't award 5 stars for "free" postage is that when postage is charged separately most sellers will offer a discount for multiple purchases, whereas this isn't usually offered when postage is included in the purchase price.

Did you know you can leave some of the stars out?

What I mean is, I collected an item, so when I was leaving feedback and it came to postage costs & speed of delivery (or however it is worded), I left them blank because they didn't apply to me.

Maybe in that case of free postage, the buyer left that blank (didn't award it any stars) because there was no postage costs at all??

There really should be further options available, ie, when it comes to postage costs, one should be 'postage was free' so the seller would still gain stars and with delivery, there should be a 'item was collected' option.

I'm suprised e-Bay didn't think of those, but then again, they don't know their !!!!! from their elbow!

If you don't click on a star then it doesn't affect the sellers star rating. It only drops their rating if you actually give them a star rating.
  • some ebay buyers just don;t think when awarding stars, I don't buy off ebay much and the first time i came across the star thing I didn't really know what it was and couldn't be bothered reading it so just clicked 3 stars for all the options. (sorry to whoever that was!)

  • If buyers were skipping DSR categories which didn't apply then that wouldn't bring the average down. I know I have one more rating for Communication than for the other 3 criteria. I assume this was from a customer I refunded after their item was lost in the post, so they weren't really in a position to comment on the accuracy of description, speed of dispatch or reasonableness of p&p cost.

and your rating would probably not be any less if you charged £1 or £1.50 for postage.

I thought the same. Put up your postage charge!

    Are you sure??

I had 5 for postage costs, when I checked the next person who left FB for me, I had gone down on postage costs ~ they collected from me

That's odd. Maybe your customer made a mistake. Have you looked to see how many ratings you've had altogether for each category? It tells you just to the right of the stars on your feedback profile page.

Positive, may be they thought they had to give you a rating for collecting.
