Polycarb is lighter than glass of course but ours has seen off some fairly stormy weather. You just need to make sure its properly clipped into the frame.
In short never had a problem with it and will always use it in preferance to glass.0 -
I have a two foot deep wall house fixed onto my garden wall. It basically looks like a slice of a standard greenhouse with the wall as the back. Full head height and has a lot of shelves for the size. I think you can get glass ones, but I chose polycarbonate because I have kids. I got it nine years ago and it's been excellent...very robust. I put it up myself as well and I'm not that great at the DIY, belive me!

Hi shimsham,
I put a search into google for 'cheapest greenhouses 6' x 4' and this site http://www.greenhousepeople.co.uk/?src=yahoo was amongst MANY others. Have a look at the one at the bottom, it's made from polycarbonate (ideal if you have children, so long as you fix it firmly) . Just put 'cheapest greenhouses 6' x 4' into google and see all the other sites that are there.
We have a glass one and a neighbour has one of the polycarbonate. On one VERY windy night he had some of his blown away - but may not have clipped it all in together sufficiently. Pop into any local firms selling both and try to guage their thoughts and advice and go from there.

It looks perfect for your needs Val. I'd love one of those as it would give us more garden space and take away the glare of the sun which pitches horribly on ours at times. If ever I get my way :rotfl:I'm going for one just like yours!

If you check out the live on £4000 challenge theres a greenhouse made from recycled pop bottles.I will try to find the link.iIm saving them up at the mo.
There's a couple on my allotment site who built a lean-to version of this against their shed. Very good insullating properties but light transmission is a bit iffy, apparently. But they're planning another, bigger one. It just takes a bit of time to collect all the bottles needed!Val.0
