Hi HarlieBarlie,
If it is just an underlying entitlement i.e. she doesn't receive any money, this shouldn't make a difference to your claim.
The DWP should have advised the LA if any CA is to be paid, so may be worth calling the LA first before having to make a special journey? xGone ... or have I?0 -
THE LA ADVISED US TO CLAIM FOR CARERS AS THIS WOULD REDUCE WHAT WE HAVE TO PAY.IVE HAD ABOUT FIVE LETTERS OF ENTITLEMENT ALL TELLING ME TO PAY DIFFERENT AMOUNTS TOWARDS OUR RENT
.THATS WHY I THINK ITS BEST IF I GO & SEE THEM:eek: .WE DON'T MIND HAVING TO PAY TOWARDS OUR RENT,I JUST WISH THEY WOULD MAKE UP THEIR MINDS ABOUT THE AMOUNT
.THANKS FOR YOUR KIND HELP. 0 -
Sorry HarlieBarlie, I forgot about the premium applicable for those in receipt of CA.
When you go in, ask them for a complete breakdown of their calculation, then you can double check that all their information is correct xGone ... or have I?0 -
Rough calc:
Applic Amount: £92.80 (couple) + £36.00 (disability) + £27.15 (carer)
= £155.95
Income: £196.90 + £26.34 = £223.24
Excess Income = £67.29
Excess is tapered by 65% = £43.74
Rent of £66.15 - £43.74 = £22.41 HB0 -
Hi there, we get nearly all our rent paid and the full council tax but, you must get the middle rate of care. If you get the lower rate DLA you do not qualify for the full help on the rent and council tax. Also if your rent is above what they will pay for the area you live in they will only pay up to that areas maximum as they do with us and we pay the rest. We could move to a cheaper place and get all the rent but, prefer to stay put.0

Hi,
You urgently need to get help from Citizens Advice or from any people that you have contact to do with your disabilities that deal with benefits. Is there a disabled help centre near you?
The reason is that you could lose your home. Because you have succeeded the tenancy it sounds like you are liable for arrears and clearly you haven't got this kind of money.
You must get help with this straight away.
You could phone Community Legal Advice.Torgwen..........

im not sure if there's a centre,i know there's a c.a.b.what i can't understand is how these arrears have come about.mom was only on her pension & got help with rent & c/t, each time they had all the documents for mybenefits & for moms pension & what ever they said she had to pay,she paid.mom was one of those people who paid a bit more than was asked.she was over £300.00 in credit on both.thanks for advice will get help & get this sorted.0

There must be an appeals procedure with regard to the overpayments to your Mum. The CAB will know about that. My son is receiving benefit and he had a lot of problems with the local office. It got so bad that he decided to take his sick notes to the office himself as they denied getting them at one stage. Then he had to have a medical interview but now everything seems to be sorted. I just find it hard to believe that you can be held responsible for your Mum's overpayments except for the fact that you are now living in the same house. It was their error!0
