Where can i get a chinese crested dog from??

Hi there!

Ok...i have no idea where this post should go...there should really be a pet forum on here!

I absolutly adore chinese crested dogs (i know they are strange looking...!!!) and as i am moving out soon i would love to get one once i am all settled in my new place. :j

The problem is, because i think they are thought of as show/pedigree dogs, i dont know where to get one! The obviously wont be in any rescue centres (although ideally, that is where i would really want to get a doggy from), and i dont know of any breeders.

How much would one cost? And where to i go to find out where to get one?!

I have always liked them, i'm not one of those people that love tiny little dogs (although i seem to love all dogs!!).

Any help appreciated! I dont know where to start looking!!

Go to a decent well recommended breeder, preferrably someone who breeds to show, you know they've got the dog's welfare at heart and your more likely to get a good one. you'll probably pay the same amount or ever so slightly more. but its better than getting it from some jane/joe bloggs trying to make a few quid and not knowing what they're doing. A good breeder will be there for you anytime you have any queries or problems

    Good luck x

I'm not too sure tbh, don't really know any chinese crested breeders i'm afraid, think you'll probably be paying £350 + for one though, but that is just a rough guess  not sure if the powder puffs are more/less expensive or the same, i'm sorry, i don't really have much knowledge of that particular breed :(

If you contact the Kennel Club they will have the number for the Breed Rescue society/ Breed Club details. Even if they have no dogs suitable they will be able to give you advice with regards to the breed and what to look out for and who has pups available. Please don't go to a puppy farm or one with a pet lovers certificate. These dogs are bred purely for profit and are rarely healthy well bred specimins - despite costing as much or more than a well bred one.

Might I be allowed to ask why you want one? And what kind of life/home you could offer one?

Do you work? Full time? Please tell us some more ... there are thousands of beautiful dogs waiting to be re-homed as they have been callously discarded by inconsiderate owners. Could you not find it in your heart to re-home an abandoned dog .... if you are a dog lover?
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
