Car vibrating when idle...any ideas?
Hi All,
I have a Ford Focus 1.6LX(02 reg) and I have noticed something strange happening over the last few weeks.
When I stop at the lights I put the handbrake up and press the clutch pedal down with the car in first gear. However for the last week or so I have noticed that the car is vibrating, I think the vibration is coming from the engine, its only a small vibration but still noticeable. I don't think its reving as such as the counter remains static!
Any ideas what this could possibly be?
Thanks in advance! :money:

Hmm I have not noticed any problems with the clutch whilst changing gears..my car has a mileage of 40K...is it normal to change the clutch at this point?"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

I changed my clutch at 80,000K but it was a VW Golf.0

40K is a bit short for a clutch change.
If it doesn't do it in neutral with the clutch up then I'd say it's not a serious problem, or the clutch release bearing has something to do with it.Happy chappy0 -
I know NOTHING about cars, but my car did this and it was a valve on the engine. Cost £600 to repair
I hope this isn't what's happened to you! I'd take it to a mechanic to be sure.

ive got a focus 1.6 04 plate, its got 50k on it and the clutch bearing has recently started to make a tiny little noise when its pressed especially when its cold,im guessing its the thrust bearing thats doing this but it will be good for another 50k im sure.
it all depends on what kind of miles have been done, has it been 40k on the motorway or is it 40k in a city centre?
i would imagine its the original clutch thats in it as it only has 40k on it but it is 6 years old so its maybe not too surprising if it is on its way out.
also meant to say check your brake fluid it may be a bit low....work permit granted!0 -

I am actually taking the car in for repair next week..does anyone have any ideas as to what it would cost to repair the thrust bearing/clutch bearing?"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

A lot of money, virtually all of it labour. You'd be as well putting another £60 to it and getting the full clutch changed as well.0
