In refference to the offer I mentioned earlier in this thread.
I was in the same situation. I found myself paying too much on PAYG with O2. I was offered the deal for 500 minutes anytime/anynetwork for £23.50 a month. The deal is called 'call 500 bolt on'. With the 10% back every three months, this takes it down to £21.15 a month. I don't get a new phone offered with this, but also I'm not tied into any contract. The deal will continue till I stop topping up £23.50 every month. They will text me each month to remind me to that I need to top up.
One of my workmates tried asking O2 for this deal twice. They told him that it wasn't available and they could not offer this. I phoned up for him, and after chatting to the people at O2. I discovered that this deal can only be offered by the retentions department. I then made out that I was considering a contract with a different company (pretending to be my mate) so they put me through to retentions and offered the call 500 deal no problems. He is now on this deal as well.
Although you could probably get better deals with a contract. I'm very happy about this deal. I prefer the idea of PAYG, and 500 free minutes anytime are way more than I need. I'm considering using the mobile now in the evenings to phone other mobiles. This could end up saving a fair bit on the home phone bill. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Where did you see this? is there a link?
They told me on the phone that this deal is not advertised. Basically, they will only give you this deal if you tell them you are considering a contract with another company. Then the retentions department can offer it.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I rang up customer services and told them I was putting too much credit on the phone each month so I was considering a contract with another company. They put me through to retentions who offered me the 500 minutes deal. I was surprised that this worked for PAYG, but I'm very happy with this deal.
It may be worth a try if you use an O2 PAYG phone. They seem to offer the best deals if you are looking to leave their network. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I've just rung o2 (pretending to be my friend) and asked for a PAC code as I was spending too much and was going over to Three PAYG that offered 500xnet, anytime for £25 a month. Having checked that my friend spends a lot (which he does) she offered me the 500 call bolt-on for £23.50 and he still gets the 300 texts as well and she even offered to send out 4 free o2 online sim cards to pass to friends, etc.Rex_Mundi wrote:...It may be worth a try if you use an O2 PAYG phone. She did confirm that the offer is only available to those that spend a lot of money each month which my friend spends around £40 a month.
Thanks again Rex.0
