Superdrug are doing 2 for 1 on Andrew Collinge hair care at the moment, I have just made up a set of shampoo, conditioner, 2 spray on heat protection things and a Denman brush for less than £15 which makes a great present for a teenage daughter or neice, if you buy these sets made up in boots you get half size bottles for twice the price.0

Perfume selections
A colleague of mine just walked in from a browse round the shops at lunchtime and after going into our local "Army & Navy" department store cam out armed with around 10-15 different perfume samples (the ones in the little test tube / phial thingies).
I'm sure loads of other department stores will be doing this kind of thing so how about collecting a load of different ones and wrapping / boxing them up as a little pressie?0 -
If you want to make your own gifts, go towww.marthastewart.com
Look in the Learn section, you'll find all sorts of stuff you can make, and even some downloads to print off and turn into cards etc. It's American, so right now some of it will be about thanksgiving but as soon as that's over there'll be lots about Christmas. If you want to follow a recipe, a "stick" of butter is 4oz and "confectioners sugar" is icing sugar. The instructions are always really clear.0 -

Thanks, kabie - i've been looking out for this after a friend got one from her daughter and now will get several for other friends as 'small' presents.
And the money I send off for them will benefit others0 -
I have to reply to the negative comments regarding Samaritans Purse. I have been sending 2 shoeboxes every year for several years now.
The first article link at the Guardian is so inaccurate that I'm surprised Samaritans Purse didn't make an official complaint.
A list of what you can and can't send is here:_

Yes they are a Christian organisation, but they are completely upfront about it, both here in the UK and where they operate abroad (my husband has seen them operate in Bosnia). The gifts are given to Christians, Muslims and any other religion or atheist/agnostic within the community they are working. Their main aim is to give where there is need. A Christian act during the most important Christian festival - the Mass of Christ. Alot of those participating are Christians as it is promoted through churches, but our local paper always runs articles about it, so reaching the non-christians too. Many people give because it is good to remember those less fortunate than themselves, particularly at this time of year.
!
We sent off a 'girls' shoebox 5 years ago and as a result of that, after Christmas, my daughter received a thank you letter from a girl in Bosnia. They still correspond.
It's enlightening to read how little some people have and what a difference these small gifts make.0 -
Rosemary - thanks for this tip. My books came today. I ordered 3 packs of the age 10 and over sets for my daughter, her best friend and my niece, and every book is different. They include some TV books (Buffy and Hollyoaks), which my daughter's friend will love in her set.
I also ordered one of the kids sets and I am also very pleased. There's a Thomas the Tank Engine one, Winnie the Pooh one, plus books by Babette Cole and Helen Oxenbury. I'm sure this set would suit babies (for being read to), early readers (some with only a few words per page) and slightly more advanced readers.
All in all, a great find. Thank you
note free delivery for orders over £25 does not apply to Northern Ireland. If you ring and complain they will take the order over the phone and waive the delivery charge.0 -

best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."
