PLEASE HELP What is Tesco's Coupon Policy?

As far as I know the overpricing policy is limited to 6 items of the same goods - which means there is little room to "abuse it" as shops with ANY common sense will sort the price as soon as someone claims on it - given that they will already have overcharged many people by that point it seems to me like we are actually striking back at the company for he free monbey they are making for the overcharge.0

hi, im a customer asistant at tesco and i thort ppl mite like to know what we get told on tills,
we can accept 1 coupon of each type for an item not bought, and 1 for each bought.
we can only accept up to 10% of the total bill in coupons of non purchased items.
we can't accept photocopied or printed vouchers - which is wrong because some vouchers off the net are legit and have to be printed.
but to be honest, i just accept anything that doesn't look dodgy and will scan in the till, i accept a lot of vouchers usually, i dont stick to the 10% rule, i just won't accept more than 50% of a bill because i would probably be told off for it.
but there is no proper training for these things, these rules i only know because my sister used to be a manager, but ppl on tills dont get told all this stuff..
my advice would be to pick a young cashier (like me) because they r less likely to care (also like me) about tescos profits, lol. and i would also recommend, just saying "will you check if any of these will go off?" because then u think u may have purchased them, the cashiers aren't going to check ...
if u get a manager to check the policy, they r most likely to say that they r right and stick by it, our managers in our store arents very "customer is always right", they will just say that is policy. they won't give a reason, and they most likely wont give in, its best to just get a part time young cashier...
hope this helps....0 -
Cheers for that Verity and welcome to MSE.
The fact you shouldn't know what your policy is because no-one has told you just proves why we all get different response on the tills when we present our coupons.
And when you ring Head Office, they seem to be as "fully" informed as the people on the tills. When I made a CS person ring HO last week to clarify their policy, my £3 coupon was finally accepted off an £8 shop...so more than 10%.
I just wish Tesco would stick to their policy in regard to coupons...if someone could actually definitevely tell the consumer what this policy was in all stores!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Well I went to my local Tescos in Lincoln today and I was told that they will now only accept 3 coupons for items that have not been purchased, apparantely this is a new amount and it was posted in the staff room, she didn't mention how many vouchers they would accept if you had brought the products.
she asked me if I had brought all the products and I said some I had and some I hadn't and thats when she told me it was only 3 coupons for non purchased products, I mentioned the HO policy of accepting one coupon per manufactor (or whatever it is) up to the value of the shop and thats when she told me that they had just been told about a new policy for the store. Fortunately I hadn't over £3.30 worth of vouchers, three for products I had brought and 3 I hadn't so in the end there was no problem.
But it seems that each store/manager has a different policy so goodness knows what it will be next week lol.Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!:starmod: Emergency Fund Savings - #148 - £10/£1000 1% :starmod::xmastree:#083 SPC6 £63 - SPC7 £90 - SPC8 £63 - SPC9 £54 - SPC10 £26 - SPC12 £70 :xmastree:0
